WOW...if you are thinking of living here PLEASE READ THIS!!!! I am not just writing this because they made me mad or I'm some dumb tenant, I am writing this because I am a laid back, easy going, responsible individual that ALWAYS does the right thing. This place was GREAT when Archstone managed it, but once Bershire took over in summer of 2006 it was all downhill. Lets start from then. I walk in the office and the property manager "the old hag" looks me up and down as if I am some white trash scum off the street (I was dressed in nice work clothes that probably cost more than her car) and she said to me "Can I help you'" in a really rude tone like my presence was an inconvienience (kinda like when you walk into a store 5 mins before they close and some kid behind the register just looks pissed off). Also, some other girl "the gothic girl" that works there, is soooooo RUDE!!! I walked in to ask if I had a package delivered and she deep sighed like I was asking her nappy smoked up ass to run a marathon .... for heaven's sake she lift one finger!!!! Then she snapped at me when I asked another question. That staff is always on the defensive side. You walk in and immediately they look at you like "what the hell do you want" then tell you you have to speak with the assistant manager, who does ALL THE WORK!!!!! Anyways, the "gothic girl" will always tell you that she just leases apartments and doesnt know anything else. She's just the lease girl...blah blah blah. Poor communication amongst staff usually means poor service. And this is 100% the case. Another issue is they claim to have a business center with a copier and fax machine. Well the so-called business center is their office equipment. They do have a computer room with two computer in there, but good luck getting on one because the kids and high school kids that go to the high school across the street go in there and use it and burn songs and download a bunch of junk and games on there so that make the computers move at the speed of molasses. When Archstone was there, they didnt care if you just walked right in their office area and used the fax or copier. Bershire will not let you do that. They will take whatever it is from you that you are trying to fax or copy and do it for you, BUT, you can only fax locally because it is too expensive for you to fax long distance. Hmmm, well that is what you are paying for by being a tenant, isnt it' Cheap and hypocritcal on their part. They also throw in a bit of attitude with the copy and fax, again, like its a huge inconvienience. Also, I'm sure you've read many people's reviews about the parking lots in the winter. Oh Lord, please dont let me start on that!!!!! They had some P.O.S 1989 little white truck that would drive through here with a PLASTIC YELLOW PLOW on the front that only pushed the snow up against the parked cars making more work for the residents. I'm not a lazy person and I love the snow, but they were horrible and nasty about not cleaning the parking lots properly. I missed days of work because I couldnt get my car out...and after talking to neighbors I know I wasnt the only one with my job on the fence for that reason. The parking lot stayed snow packed from the first blizzard on December 20, 2006 till MID MARCH!!!!!! Now tell me, is that what you call responsible. I had been in many other complex parking lots when visiting friends and their parking lots were clean and no snow or ice to be found. Why did Berkshire not take responsiblity' Because they dont care about YOU, just your money. I promise you will thank yourself for not living here. They let CRIMINALS live here. I overheard "gothic girl" on the phone with a prospective tenant when I was in there for the 4th time trying to get something fixed and she was whispering to him, just fax us your criminal case showing that you did your time and are on probation and we can get this approved. I heard the WHOLE THING!!! EWWWW!!! And to let 18 year old white trash kids move in there that fight, drink, do drugs, etc, thats not a place for me. But, I guess that's what you get when you don't own a house. Renting is a nightmare all together, but if you want to make your nightmare a trip to hell with no return, then you'll move in this hell hole. If your smart, you'll RUN RUN RUN. Dont belive me' Go take a tour of the place and ask them about these issues. Watch their bark turn to a bite. And while you're at it,look for the "ol hag" and the "defensive assistant manager who has to do everyone's job" and the "gothic girl" (if shes still there and not in rehab) and say hi to them. Getting a feel for your management is important. If they make you uncomfortable or are the slightest bit rude...imagine what they are like once you actually are locked in and have signed your lease. You'll agree with what I say about them even though its steriotypical. I have lived in many apartments (especially when in college) and I have never been treated like Berkshire treated me. I would cringe when I had to call them about something or go up to the front office. They are so rude and uptight and stuck up their own asses. I have to agree with every word you wrote; I've had nothing but problems! April, the Manager, told me she was working through the proper HR channels to get rid of Shannon (goth chic) and that was 3 months ago! Our building just received a notice (directed at the residents of our building only) showing a violation from Jefferson County for excessive dog feces/trash/debris yet the letter from Dakota Ridge only mentioned the dog feces. What amazes me is that you still gave an overall rating of 3 out of 5. Maybe someone should print out all the ratings on this site and send them to Berkshire Property Advisors and see if things change.
