Dropping the Ball

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
When I first saw this property, it was brand spankin new. I was shopping properties and came across this one and was so impressed by the property, management and staff. I always remembered this property and it just so happened I needed to move back to this side of town in June and thought I would check this place out again. Again, we walked in, greeted and sold on a new place to live. Now after being in the residential property management industry I knew what we were looking for, the right questions to ask, etc. Well it has been 6 months and we would do anything to get out of our lease. The old manager that was there when we first moved in was so relaxed she didn't care what happened to the property and there was problem after problem. Now I know it is an apartment and with apartment living comes annoyances, but the job of the staff is to provide a high level of customer service to us "RESIDENTS". They were without a manager for awhile and now they have a new manager who I truly believe is doing what she can to get this property turned around, but it will take much needed training and babysitting especially of the maintenance staff. I know I can't blame all the problems on the staff cause they can't help the disrespect the residents cause, but when there is trash overflowing out of trash cans, dog crap all over, snow not shuveled, landscaping not adequate, and so on, I expect the staff as a whole to take care of this. They need to do whatever it takes to get the tasks completed...staff or no staff. That is what a team is called and I feel that this team is slowly getting built up to par, but I also don't feel it is going to get 100%. I like the area of my home, and I like how centrally located I am to everything I need, but it just seems like whenever we have a concern, it is more of a hassel to deal with than get the problem solved. I don't think this is a good place to live and it really has to do with my first and last impression as of today...being treated as a bothersome, rather than a resident. I really hope this property turns around because it isn't the residents fault, as they aren't the managers of the property. Again, I know residents can be disrespectful, and not very thoughful of where they live, but as the job of the staff, they need to do whatever it takes to provide a higher level of customer service.
