Pricy, but new and nice

I?m quite surprised to see such a preponderance of negative opinions regarding this place.
I moved here when the place was practically brand new, back in 2000. Rental vacancies were at ridiculous, historical lows, and I needed a 4-month lease. This was the only place that would accomodate me, at $895/month for a 1-bedroom place.
The apartment at that time was stellar--brand new, with great appliances and a fantastic, programmable thermostat. I never had much trouble with noise from other tenants. This was a large, spacious 1-bedroom. Huge bathroom with a walk-in closet. Unfortunately, as my wife was back in California, I needed hardly any space!
I love to run, and this place is great -- direct access to the trail system that follows the South Platte in Littleton. The train to downtown is less than a mile away. C-470 is close. I thought the views from the complex were stellar. It is (was') sort of on the edge of the "frontier", with nice, unobstructed views of the mountains.
Your life would suck if you lived next to the yipping dog that would greet me every morning at 6:45 when I ran down the path.
As I recall, the complex had no community clothes washing facility, so I had to use a laundromat.
The roads and parking lots had an ice problem when I was there, but that was a bad year (2000-01)
In summary, I enjoyed my time there quite a lot. I received 100% of my security deposit upon leaving, never had a "maintenance check" of my apartment, never had a ticket issued (though I saw some on cars--usually for parking the wrong way or hanging out into the street), and never had any sort of shenanigans with my lease or rent.
