Horrible!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 7/3/2004
Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
These are the worst apartments I've lived in in my entire life. This, coming from someone who has lived in complexes that were over 30 years old and in the bad side of town.
I read these previous reviews before I got the apartment and I thought to myself that it couldn't be *too* bad considering the age of the apartments (8 years old this year) and the area.
I was right, sorta. They're WORSE than what i've read.
I regret not listening to the former tenants and staying away from this rattle trap.
The ONLY good thing I can say about this place is that the rent is cheap for the area. Now I realize why; its awful to live in and accordingly, it has a very high vacancy rate. We counted about 13 vacant units one night. As of now, their website says they have 7 vacancies. Which is still a record considering its summertime.
It's easy to tell which ones are because the lights are on, the blinds are open and the unit is bare. Keep in mind that this complex is not very big at all.
Don't be fooled by the seemingly good deal they give you on rent... we thought it was too, until we had to endure so many headaches from this place. It's not worth it at all. We would have gladly spent an extra $50 or even $100 or so for some other apartments in the area.
Good news is, from what I've seen, this place is the bottom of the bucket for this area... so at least whatever else you choose, it won't be this bad.
We had problems with the bubbleheaded management the first day we got here... and every day beyond that. They never had paperwork or anything else ready when they said they would. As another reviewer said, they're extremely ---- about everything and yet you can't get them to do anything when you ask them. They'll tell you whatever they have to in order to get you off their case or get what they want from you.
Maintainence is just as bad. I also couldn't get them out here for weeks and weeks to fix things and they act so inconvenienced when they do show up. We actually had one of them yell at us because we were having a recurring problem with the pipes and had to keep calling them back to redo their "work"! They kept giving us excuses like we didn't give them permission to enter when the guys would come up... even though I was home all day that particular day, and would know if someone showed up knocking at my door. Busted!
Doors were all falling off. Every closet door in our unit had fallen off at least once. The rails that hold them on are rusty ('') and loose and nearly falling off themselves. It's not placed evenly and theres gaps and sometimes the doors hang and you can't close or open them because there's dents in the rails for some unknown reason.
The carpet has been here since the dawn of time, I do believe. It's horrid even for an apartment.
The a/c didn't cool very well and one room would be hot while another had the proverbial icicles hanging off the ceiling.
Constant plumbing and pipe problems. Leaks, clogs, you name it.
We couldn't hang our curtains properly because the wall was so thin. About a quarter inch or less into the wall in some places, we hit the insulation. Parts of the wall were uneven, just like the floors.
There was a constant noise problem with someone. Alot of partyers live here, and believe me they do alot of it, and loudly. I can't remember one weekend where I wasn't woken up by loud music, people screaming and being loud or tires squealing from a car that had the bass up loud enough to deafen someone.
If it wasn't those guys, it was people letting their kids run loose like a bunch of wild ------- all day and into the night. It's slightly better during the school year, but in the summertime forget any peace and quiet.
I could also hear every tiny little step upstairs neighbors made. When standing in the bathroom, I could hear entire conversations through the air vent. It's not as entertaining as it sounds.. especially when those same neighbors are loud to begin with.
Garages are underneath some units and often, those are rented to other tenants than the ones living above the particular garage. So it's common to feel the vibration of them opening and closing their garage. It's a minor annoyance in comparison to other issues, but just goes to show what morons the designers of this place were.
All appliances are the cheapest, smallest ones they could find. They're also almost all Hot Point which is a cheapie brand anyway. Our dishwasher was shameful, and I've seen better microwaves in motel rooms. I don't think I've ever seen a microwave so small. The washer and dryer were ok, but the dryer door was broken and popped open often while it was running. Pretty inconvenient.
Electrical switches are indeed pointless in this place, as they go nowhere or they're connected to a wall outlet which is still practically useless. You have to pull the string on the ceiling fan to turn lights off and on.
We had problems with the light switches on the ceiling fan... most of them were shorted out to some degree. One didn't work at all. All the fans were different, although the same size and color. We had one that was a 3 speed, and the others were 4. As luck would have it, that 3 speed was also in the room that stayed hot anyway.
he fireplace is made funky. You lift a glass window up and outward which is annoying and kinda difficult, and theres no screen to cover it.
Theres a discrepancy in the floorplan for Plan C. In the dining room, a part of the wall (where the water heater and a/c is) sticks out about 2 feet, but the floorplan shows that the wall is even. That 2 feet makes a big difference when trying to fit dining tables in there, trust me.
There's no lock or even a latch that is loackable from the inside only. If management or maintainence wanted to, it'd be very easy to walk in on someone. That never happened to me, but the idea still makes me very uneasy. It's bad enough strangers have a key to begin with, but total access even when one is at home is a little much.
The entertainment center is built uneven, and doesn't actually fit any electronics in those slots. My dvd player, reciever, and vcr wouldn't fit. I had to tilt them sideways to finally cram them in there.
Most of the time parking is good. Weekends are sometimes a problem, though especially if its a rainy or snowy weekend.
I don't think I've ever seen the snow or ice cleared out.
In closing, I can basically say with certainty that the entire place is falling apart and a nightmare to try to live in.
