Bad place to live...
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 4/8/2005
Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
I lived at Remington At Lone Tree for a year, and I'm glad to have left that place. Most of the other reviews on this site pretty much express how I feel about the place as well. What especially bothered me about the apartments were the following:
1. The noise was horrendous! I swear, I felt like the neighbors upstairs were bowling 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it was so bad.
2. The floors are not very sturdy. I could hear everything in the apartment rattle with the simple footsteps that I made.
3. The apartment complex doesn't seem to have any first-floor two bedroom units installed. If you wish to live in a two-bedroom apartment and hate having to deal with stairs, don't live here.
4. The Plan C floorplan diagram lied. According to the floorplan, the wall in the dining room that contains the washer, dryer, heat, and A/C was supposed to be flat. Instead, part of the wall comes out and into the dining room, taking away from the available space. We couldn't fit our dining table in the area provided.
5. The apartment had a very low chandelier coming down into the dining room. This took away from the usefulness of the room and became a major obstruction.
6. The walls are of very poor quality. I could hear my neighbors playing loud music in the middle of the night, and it's not uncommon to hear conversations next door.
7. The apartment had quite a bit of damage before I moved in. The maintenance staff did nothing to fix the damage.
8. The air conditioner did not work during the summer and the heater did not work during the winter. I had to purchase my own space heaters to keep myself warm in the apartment during cold nights. I had to open the windows to let cool air in during the day, but the direction that the windows were facing didn't help keep the sun out.
9. The apartment complex turns off all air conditioning units during the winter months. It may be understandable if they don't want the A/C units to malfunction during a deep freeze, but with the weather being as unpredictable as it is in Colorado, we do actually get a lot of warm days during winter. It was impossible to keep cool during those days.
10. The ceiling fans weren't controlled by wall switches. You had to pull on the cords to turn the ceiling fans on and off, and it becomes difficult to use during the dark hours of the night. I had several instances where I accidentally turned off an important appliance plugged into the wall because I thought that the wall switches controlled the ceiling fans.
11. The microwave was tiny and powerless. I could hardly fit a decent meal in there, and I had to heat everything a few extra minutes just to get them to warm up.
12. The management and maintenance are useless. The management seem to be nazis, and the lease agreement was very restrictive with what is allowed. It takes maintenance weeks to fix major problems with the unit.
The apartment seems to have a whopping 50% vacancy rate the last time I paid attention. People move in and out of here like crazy.
I can't understand how Remington at Lone Tree can consider themselves to be "luxury apartments" with all the problems that I have described above.
The only thing that was decent was the parking. There were always plenty of open parking spaces available, probably because no one wants to live at these apartments.
I have moved many times in my life, and I can't believe that such poor-quality apartments exist in a supposedly affluent area like northern Douglas County. Having lived there, it seems like the apartments belong to a ghetto, not to a rich neighboorhood like Lone Tree.
