Move-in was a bit frustrating as the person who lived there before me was a complete slob and it appeared as if the only thing they did to make the place ready was shampoo the carpet. The bathroom was filthy!! I had to clean it twice before I even thought about using it, same with the stove. Other than that things have been decent.
I wanted a 3rd flr or 2nd w/ vltd. ceiling & no one above; but there weren't any avail & I was on a time crunch so I settled for 2nd; this was Mistake #1: I think a heard of water buffalo live above me! Stomping at all hours 1pm,3pm, 2am, 6am, doesn't matter. They drop cigarette butts on my balcony too, very irritating! Mistake #2: I went with the smaller 1-bed b/c of the price. The bathroom feels like you're in a closet. The door hits the tub when you open, not much room to maneuver in there. As well as very limited closet space w/no extra storage. Mistake #3: Apartment faces north. VERY COLD in the winter & the gas bill is horrendous. I paid about $98 to have my heat set on 65!!! Needless to say, I invested in more blankets.
Mistake #4: Looking around on the website 2 weeks after I moved in and saw the larger 1-bed apt in the same building the next breezeway over for $20 less than I was paying & $99 deposit (I pd $200). I was so pi**ed!
Maintenance issues are taken care of pretty quickly. The maintenance guys were so nice during the snow storms too, they helped me push my car up the hill and helped dig it out a few days later. Snow removal company was marginal, they did a good job of piling it behind peoples cars. I did appreciate them coming in with a backhoe to remove ice buildup and the larger snow drifts though.
If your going to consider leasing here, take your time, prices fluctuate drastically! Deff go with a 3rd floor or 2nd w/ vaulted ceiling if you don't like noise.
Rarely see or hear from neighbors (other than the buffalo) so the noise comments must have come from people who live on the other side of the complex.
Would deff go with the bigger non north facing apt next time. Judging from current prices though I prob can't afford it!
