While our experience here has not been uniformly bad, it has been overall very poor. My bicycle was recently stolen despite the security and gate here, and security is in fact not often present. Generally they take a quick drive through the parking lot and then leave. Similarly, the gate seems to be more for show than protection, as there is a side of the property not fenced at all, and is more of an annoyance than anything since there is not a way for someone walking or riding a bicycle to open the gate from the inside.

The apartment is reasonably nice, but very small. Repair requests have been responded to quickly and fixed well. I do wish better soundproofing were used, it is far too easy to hear neighbors even when they are not making much noise.

I was also quite unhappy when the management sent us an incorrect bill, apparently billing us for less than actually owed, then after it was paid on time called us two weeks later threatening to start legal action the next day if additional money were not paid. They then told me that they would "take care of" the $100 "late charge" for "this one time". I most certainly would have paid no late charge and would have happily taken it to court had they attempted to charge one, I paid the bill I was sent in full and on time. They treated it as though they were doing a favor rather than taking responsibility for their error. While they were later willing me to show the accounting and I do agree that the charges were correct, I don't agree with the way it was handled. I also was not happy when we got mysterious extra charges. The management stated that these were from the electric bill not being in our name. I gave them copies of the bills showing that electric had been in our name for two months. They did reverse the charges, but this is two billing errors in only five months, and no offer of compensation for having to do their accounting for them. Finally, it is quite annoying that the management often does not deposit rent checks for several weeks after rent is paid, increasing the likelihood of a returned check. While I do my own accounting and ensure enough money is left to cover outstanding checks, this is still an inconvenience, and seems to be an attempt to have more checks bounce and collect late/returned check fees.

It is also not very common for apartments to charge for water and garbage service, so figure that the rent will be $30-$50 higher than what you are actually quoted. Given that the rent is already in the high range, this makes it quite high. We were, however, clearly notified of this up front, unlike someone who previously posted.

There are some positive aspects. The location is convenient to bicycle trails and light rail, it is generally relatively quiet, and having a washer, dryer, and dishwasher included with the apartment is quite nice. Maintenance has generally been quick to correct problems, even replacing the refrigerator and stove when there were issues with them. Still, I am not at all sure if we will renew our lease when it is up next year, and am hoping to be able to find better.

I would also like to note two additional issues. First is the inability of the apartments to accommodate me getting satellite TV and installing the dish where there is a clear line of sight. As I work for a major satellite provider and get satellite service free as a benefit of employment, this is a major issue. Secondly, after a recent change in management, the management is attempting to charge residents the utility changeover fees despite this not being allowed by the lease. I highly recommend that those looking for good quality housing with a decent management staff look anywhere but here. I've therefore changed my rating from mixed to overall negative, and will certainly be leaving as soon as the lease expires. I would encourage anyone else looking here to AVOID signing a lease here and to look for better.
