Nice Place...Rude and Horrible Managment!

I have lived here since March 2007...we moved from Michigan and had almost no time to find a place so we felt lucky to find a place with a 3 bedroom available when we needed it. We rented site unseen which was scary for us because we had never rented before.

The parking lot was redone in September and so it is nice and smooth no potholes or anything. I have issues with a couple of things that Rent.com says...they claim it has "assigned parking" and they do not...they also say that they have "controlled access" and they don't (solicitors will knock on your door in the evening so if this bothers you put up a sign)...if they have vaulted celings I would like to know where because I haven't met a resident with them yet and we live on the top floor and don't have them.

This summer I felt the pool and hot tub were not very clean...but you can't blame that exclusivly on the staff...residents need to do their part and not eat in the pool and smoke in it, bathe before they get in it and such. We don't know our neighboors and that is fine...the only problem we had was our downstairs neighboor moved in and thought playing his stereo at 4am was OK...so after a few complaints to the managment they stopped. When you complain to managment they do their best but we were flat out told that if it didn't stop we would need to call the police so they would have grounds for an eviction for the trouble makers because we were the only ones complaining.

The complex is behind Home Depot and surrounded on the other sides by a golf course which makes it VERY quite. People have complained about golf balls hitting their cars, I do not park where this would happen so I have no complaints about that.

My biggest complaint would be that maintinance is slow a some grounds issues. Our security light in front of our building was out for several weeks and took many complaints to fix and there was shrubery hanging over the walkway for at least 2 months before the problem was rectified.

We will not be renewing our lease because our rent is going up about $150/month it looks like so we will need to find a cheaper place.

Also...get a copy of your lease when you sign it and do not let them tell you they will give you a copy at a later date or time. We requested a copy and were never given one. We signed our 12 month lease on 3/7/7 we assumed that our lease expires on 3/7/8...but after renting a new place that we will take possesion of on 2/15/8 we find out that our Westlake Greens lease doesn't expire until 3/31/8. I firmly believe the date was changed because upon speaking with my neighboors no one has a lease that rolls to the end of the month. We questioned the office and they claim this is the way they do their leases. We have no proof what they did because we didn't get a copy of the lease (our fault I know). So now we either have to pay the lease break fees (which is an outrageous $2000 plus concessions $1296 for a total of $3296) or pay the last months rent (so we have to pay rent at the new place and here for the month of March).

Everyone knows that the company could release us from the lease on 3/7/8 (that is all we are asking for because that would be a full 12 months) but they refuse and are totally RUDE about it. Jackie and Melissa are the 2 rudest people in the world. They won't discuss anything with you they just tell you it is your tough luck and that they will charge you all this money if you even attempt to break your lease. So we have decided to leave and let them send us to collections (they think that would be better for them than releasing us from the 24 days that would be left on our lease)...we already have the new place so who cares.

I freaked a little bit when I saw your posting about the dates on your lease. I did get a copy of mine at move in so I pulled it out to take a look. My lease does show that it goes to the end of the last month. That is why your first month should have been pro-rated. Just and FYI.

Your 1st month's rent should always be pro-rated no matter when your lease ends. If you do not move in until the 10th of the month they cannot legally make you pay from the 1st of the month. If you call around to any other apartment complex in Littleton, Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock, ect and ask them how they run their leases they state that they either run it from the date you moved in to that date in 1 year (ie March 7th to March 7th) or they run it from the date you move in to the end of the month the month before your lease ends (ie if you move in March 7th of 2008 your lease will run until Feb 28th 2009). When you run it until the end of the month the month you signed (ie Mar 7th to Mar 31st) you wind up paying for more that 12 months...which if you signed a 12 month lease you wind up paying more than your agreed upon lease.

It is best to read your lease when you sign it upon move in instead of rushing through the move-in process. It is interesting that you blame Management for your misunderstanding of the lease you signed. They are doing their job, you signed a legal contract, be an adult. Does your leinholder on your loan allow you out of your contract because you misunderstood the ending date?
