poor maintenance, doesn't return your deposit

Lived here for about two years. It's a pretty good location if you don't want to pay Boulder prices. I lived in a 1 bedroom and it was a decent apartment, but I had three problems with the complex: (1) not having my full deposit returned; (2) shoddy plumbing and water damage; (3) and the maintenance is extremely poor.
Deposits- I would recommend videotaping or taking photos of your apartment before and after you live there. It appears as though the management thinks they're entitled to use your deposit for upgrading the apartment to showroom standard. It doesn't matter if the you leave the apartment clean with nothing broken. I had to argue to get some of my deposit back.
Shoddy Plumbing/Water Damage- During the apartment's roof repairs, there was water damage in my apartment, damaging and destroying my book collection. The management said they weren't responsible, and I should use my renter's insurance. But, the damage was caused by the contracted roof repairmen not putting tarp down.
(3) Maintenance
When I first moved here the maintenance was really good, but he left. His replacement leaves a mess in your apartment and doesn't know how to fix anything. If you make a maintenance request, don't expect expediant service, or for the matter, the problem to be fixed the first time!
