At the risk of sounding redundant this is by far the worse place to live. Where do I begin' There is so much wrong and I am so angry.
I awoke one morning to someone in my apartment. When I got out of bed and went to the door a saw a young man in his mid twenties in plain clothes, screwing with the lock on my door. When I asked him what he was doing he snootily replied he was changing the locks. No further explanation (and let me add that we had no warning as promised in the lease to the locks being changed). I logically asked him if I would need a new key and he rolled his eyes at me said no and acted as if it was the dumbest question he had ever heard. He then stood up pushed passed me (LITERALLY shoulder butted me) and walked further into my apartment without any explanation. He didn't even take off his damn muddy boots. The bad experiences don't stop here.
The first year I lived here I had the same problem as others with the misplaced rent checks. I dropped off my rent in their rent slot as usual. Several days later I received a nasty letter claiming they were taking legal action against me for not paying the rent. Several days later that they found my check. No apologies, no promises of better treatment. They still made me pay for their lawyer fee's even though it was their mistake.
Let me now get into their monopolies. They only allowed USONLINE for their phone/net/cable, until recently. They management actually went around the community looking for satellite dishes. They freaked out on anyone with dishes, even if they were legally C-clipped on the balcony causing no damage to their buildings. They claimed ANYTHING protruding out from your balcony was not allowed. They claimed they owned the air around the balconies!
Our dishwasher has broke down more times then I can count. When we finally got a maintenance man in he claimed we needed a new dishwasher, when he reported this to his boss over the walkie talkie his boss told him to just put a used piece . That by no means was he to replace the unit.
A few times I have heard the maintenance and management bad mouthing me. (Right outside my front door I must add)
For four days our whole complexes water was shut off. They had not dug the piping far enough down and it had broken from the maintenance men driving on it.
I had to turn off the gas fireplace because it kept leaking gas and when I asked them to fix it they told me to just not use it.
The employees here are ridiculous, they use the golf carts as something to race with. They slam into the garbage purposely and they use apartments as squatting places. I actually heard one of the maintenance men coming into my apartment, when I rushed to the door he gave me no explanation as to why he was entering and just said he though the place was empty.
Pet friendly my ass! My kitten ran away and I put up flyers all over the community. Shortly after I received a call from Horizons management on the number I listed. Claiming I wasn't allowed to put it up on their clips. I didn't see it as a problem considering as the year I had lived here I had seen mountains of advertising trash and solicitation on my clip. She continued to ask my name and address which I refused to give her as she threatened to charge me for the hour spent by her maintenance men taking down the flyers for my missing kitten. I put flyers up in five neighboring apartment communities, none of which had a problem.
The maintenance men have come in on several occasions when I have been in the shower. They had no reason to be there. As a female I feel completely uncomfortable living here. The last time they did this, I went out and had my boyfriend purchase a door blocker/jammer to prevent future unlawful entry. It doesn't end here, several times after we installed this I have awaken to the door being unlocked when I know for sure I locked it the night previously.
They never come when they say they will. And when given a date for maintenance (example July 1 ) they will in fact take the whole month to do the maintenance, when promised it will take only a day.
The heater never works and I mean NEVER. I had to buy space heaters to keep from freezing in the winter. If you think they care, think again.
They never shovel the snow, the garbage is always over flowing and if you are more then 6 hours late on putting your garbage can in they will put it right behind your garage, so if you don't look before you pull out you end up hitting it.
They double booked the original apartment I signed for and gave me one of lesser quality. They claimed I was wrong even though I had the papers to prove it.
I went on vacation and came back to my plants and BBQ and satellite having been painted over. They did not take the time to cover up these things when painting the balcony. Not to mention the paint wasn't even the same color as the rest of the balcony.
I fear the hassle I will incur after I leave, that others have.
I could go on forever with what is wrong with Horizons at Rock Creek....please take heed ...never rent here! It should be closed down.

I rented an Apartment in June of 2005. The apartment was for my daughter and I. The rent on a one bedroom is a JOKE! The carpet had screws sticking out of it. The dishwasher never worked. There is fecal matter in the pool, and the main pool the heater is broken along with tiles comming off the sides of the pool. We had drunken neighbors who let everyone know how drunk they were. There is not enough parking. Windows were smashed out of cars. The toilets over flow CONSTANTLY!The lease was incorrect, saying I was there for a year, but only signed for six months. Acted so bothered when I asked to have it fixed. Once they have your money forget it!!!

I am an unhappy resident of this miserable place too, but for you to complain about backing into your garbage can is rediculous. You are a nusance and a danger. If you are backing into your own garbage can, you could just as easily be running over a child. Your garbage can is supposed to be stowed promptly in your garage because the winds blow the cans around and litter the grounds. My complaints include apathetic management not enforcing the garbage can rule for slackers like you. Although the worst is that the management does not enforce the requirement to park your car in your garage and not use the garage to store your sundry source of credit card debt. The complex was designed for garages to be used for (imagine it) parking cars. When that rule is not enforced, there is inadequate parking. Of course, Boulder County Sherrif is happy with this arrangement as they periodically issue $30/night "parking passes", but not often enough to keep the most inconsiderate from parking in front of your garage keeping you from getting your car in or out. Hope you aren't in a hurry -- or expect the management to give a wit.
