We just moved in to the Horizons in July, so haven't had to deal with the "moving out process" yet but we really don't have any complaints! I live in an apartment that is right across the street from the lake (since it's across the street we don't have to pay for "lake-front property" but still get the great view! We also don't have any problem with parking since we are off the main road, even though I hear if you are on the smaller inside streets there are parking problems. The staff has always been very friendly and the few times we have had to call maintenance about problems (nothing major) they always came by the next day or pretty close. The apartment we moved into had been vacant for a few months before we moved in so there were some spiders that we kept finding inside but as soon as we called maintenance about it they had the exterminator out there the next day and he sprayed all the windows, etc. They take credit card payments for rent which is awesome, and if you pay before it's due you get entered in to a raffle to win free rent the next month. They have extended hours (open on Saturdays and Sundays too!) which is great since we go to work early and always come home late -- and they are still open! The community center is open even later -- until 10pm and they collect packages for you, have $1 a day movie rentals, a full-blown-out fitness center, fitness classes, big screen movie theater where they show a new-release every Wednesday and have popcorn and snacks. There is a brunch every Sunday morning -- but get there early! Food goes fast. :) They are *VERY* pet friendly... our dog is a total spaz around strangers and they always take the time to try and get her a treat. They also have a beach on the lake where there are always tons of dogs to play with, along with a trail around the lake to walk if you want, and "potty stations" where you can get poop bags and dispose of them. They also have people who go around and pick up the dog poop that owners don't pick up every few weeks. The apartment we live in is HUGE and has 8' tall ceilings and a gigantic oval tub for the guest bathroom. There are two walk-in closets and a great big fire-place where we put our 32" TV (and there was PLENTY of room for something much larger). We only pay $887 a month for our apartment, which is 1060ish square feet, we got a great deal, especially considering everything else that they offer here. And they have about 32 different floor plans -- so there is bound to be one that you'll like! All apartments come with a garage too, some attached and some detached (and some multi-car). The other great thing is that they have a 30 day guarantee -- where if you move in and don't like the place, you can move out within 30 days and you'll get all your deposit money back and they'll let you out of the lease -- which was great for us since we moved here from Texas and didn't have a chance to actually travel to Colorado to find a place. It's an AWESOME location, perfectly placed between Boulder and Denver so we can go either city without a long drive. It's not overrun by partying college kids either, I've never had a problem with noise during the day or during the night. Also in the lease it states that if you renew your lease with them they'll give you all your deposit money back. Not sure how much they raise the rates though. Also, even though dogs are supposed to be on a leash, I've never had them say anything to us about ours (or our friends) not being on one. They also don't have a weight restriction on dogs, only some breeds but from what I have heard they are pretty lax on that one (they ask but they don't check). They also don't have a restriction on what kinds of pets you can have there (some complexes don't allow exotic pets, or rodents for example). Even though they have a "limit" on cats/dogs (2) again, I know people who have more no problem, and other types of animals they don't even count. In our opinion a great place to live, towers over everywhere else I've lived. Oh, and they don't require USOnline... we have Comcast Cable and Internet -- and have absolutely no problems. The speed is great and there are never those times of days where dial-up is faster like in some other places I've lived. The only thing that would keep us from renewing our lease is if a) we have enough money to buy a house or b) we don't get as good of a deal on rent next year.
