Disappointed

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
For the most part it's a pretty nice apartment complex, however there are a few things that I'd like to mention. The grounds are not kept up as well as they should be. It took three calls within a week to the leasing office to have very unsightly trash (that should have been put in the tenants own trash can), and other debris that was laying in the grass beyond my building, to be picked up. Notices that are put on our door are very badly written, both grammatically and inaccurate accusations concerning pets. There are "big" piles of dog poop in many areas. Personally, I think big dogs do not belong in an apartment complex, they should live where they have a yard to run and do their business all they want and not leave huges piles of poop for others to have to walk around or step in. I think it's cruel to big dogs.
I live on a floor where there is an apartment above me. I realize this will happen in most any apartment complex but, the noise factor is horrendous. I understand there will be some noise, but often it is beyond "normal", however, in my opinion it's attributed to poor insulation. Also, kids are running back and forth in their homes and in the hallways and stairwells. Very heavy feet can be heard throughout. Scooters/skateboards are often in the way in walkways and ridden in places they should not be. The curfew of 11:00 pm to apply reasonable noise is too late. It should be reduced to 10:00 Su-Th, and 11:00 F-Sa. Many people, such as myself have to get up very early for work and often times washers/dryers are being run in above apts. and can be heard late at night.
The management office could be a bit stronger in enforcing the rules and regulations of the residents and remove those who do not comply. I do appreciate the update flyers we get from time to time, but if I were writing those flyers, I would put in "strong" reminders of the above mentioned, reiterate the importance of complying with the day to day, common sense, rules of showing respect and consideration to those that live around you. I would also send out those same reminders on a monthly basis. I also think that people who have small children should live on the first floors only, for their protection as well as the noise factor children present. It's up to the parents of these small children to control their kids and remind them that they too have to follow the rules. Unfortunately there are a lot of dead beat, ignorant parents out there, and they are everywhere.
If someone parks in a handicap spot and does not show any visible sign of a handicap plate or placard, a standard notice from the leasing office should be put on their windshield. I know ultimately the local police can only enforce this law, but a friendly reminder certainly would not hurt. I realize you can't catch every offender, but something to be aware of.
