Worst Place I've Ever Lived

At first I though this place was nice and affordable. My boyfriend and I lived in 2 separate apartments on these grounds. A small one bedroom and then a two bedroom. It first seemed fishy when we moved in that they would not show us our apartment. We got to see the model and it wasn't even the same floor plan. The neighbors were always blaring their stereos, and kids were always making noise. Our closet doors constantly came off the tracks, had to live in the dark basically with only one window in the bedroom and one in the living room. Couldn't even keep our blinds open due to people ALWAYS looking in. Not to mention it took forever for them to fix the parking lot after the blizzard and I cracked my transmission on my old car most likely due to them not plowing. Also I was late to work on at least 4 occasions from the workers blocking my car in whilst they were working on the parking lot. And whilst they were re-roofing the place they had hazardous waste dumpsters with asbestos remains they found. So complete unsafe, they even make you sign a waiver when you move in to not poke any holes in the ceilings. However after looking around we couldn't afford much else so we remained. Then in Feb of 06' we moved into a two bedroom there with a friend. They only gave us 24 hours to move so we we're unable to clean the apartment well. And they charged us a $99 deep cleaning fee. Which took our whole security deposit. We were living in the two bedroom for a week when the bathroom ceiling bubbled in spots and filled with water. About three months into living there we found patches in the carpet. Our furnace intermittently worked, as well as the A/C. There we're ALWAYS kids screaming outside and running around. Blocking the stairs with toys and blankets and what not. Then they decided to pain the exterior of the complex. The people did a horrible job! They broke our patio light fixture, got paint on the glass door, they even required us to leave our door open for two hours so they could paint the inside frame. Weeks later the paint was peeling off everything. We also got a notice for a moderate rental increase from $650 to $730. Which is why we decided to move ultimately we refused to pay more for a crappy apartment that raise your rent every lease. So we gave them ample notice and miraculously they had no note of us giving them 30 days (which is what they require) so when we followed up (which you constantly have to do if you want anything done) they said since it wasn't 30 days now that they would have to prorate us for the extra days. So move out day came and we spent 4 hours cleaning that place. Vacuumed and steam cleaned the carpet. Windexed and washed the windows. Used bleach and hot water on all the cabinets and appliances in the kitchen, Industrial oven cleaner on the oven. Mopped and scrubbed our storage closet, bathroom, and kitchen floors and under our sinks and tub. They place was left in WAY better condition than the first apartment. They didn't even walk the apartment with us. They told us to just leave the keys in the rent box, that we "we're good tenants there and they trusted us". Well a few weeks go by and we hadn't heard anything in regards to our security deposit, so my boyfriend called them up and they were really rude to him on the phone, and that they in fact were billing us $520 in addition to our $250 security deposit for damages to the carpet. They apparently sent us a bill, to the wrong address, even spelled my name wrong. They said there were pet urine stains (though we had no pets), and cigarette burns (though none of us smoked). And we are still dealing with them. So whatever you do STAY AWAY!!!
