Do not move here!

From the day I moved into my ground level apartment I had trouble with noisy neighbors upstairs. It was not because of music but because of their daughter running around all day long and jumping off the furniture even after quiet hours. I complained to the office staff multiple times and nothing was done because the staff did not know what to do. When I finally was able to speak to the property manager she flat out told me that they are not going to do anything about the situation. What was that paragraph in my contract about being able to quietly enjoy my living quarters again' Do not move in here, the staff is horrible and unwilling to take care of the renters that do not cause any problems and pay their rent on time.

Wow, Trailside has the same obnoxious clause in the fine print of their lease: "there is no guarantee of quiet enjoyment of this unit" or some such verbiage. We found this out dealing with our noisy neighbors. I'm seeing a two common themes in all these apartment reviews. People either love or hate where they live, regardless of which apartment complex, and it almost always has to do with whether or not they have rude, noisy neighbors. Since it's a crap shoot when you move in what you're gonna be stuck next to, here's my plan. Next time I move, I'm going to get a month to month option for the first few months. I know it's insanely expensive, but being stuck in a one year lease next to Animal House is even worse. If the new place is quiet and peaceful, the next step is to contact the quiet neighbors and find out how long they are staying. If they are planning on moving soon, I'd keep the month to month until I see what moves in next. Once I'm satisfied that things should stay quiet for the forseeable future, then I would sign a longer term lease. The ultimate goal, however, is to save up for my own single family home. I'm really burned out on sharing common walls with other people.
