High Utilities, Tiny Kitchens, not really worth the $$$

We didn't know upon moving in that the water was shared by the entire building. Showers are a pain in the you know what because it goes hot to cold to hot to cold. Now while I understand why this occures I have a problem with the high water bills every month. I have lived in other places with more people then I do now and the water bills always averaged around 30.00 The place I lived in last year was never over 35.00 with 4 adults showering daily. So why is it that our water bill for two is over 60.00 each month' That's DOUBLE what it should be and we don't even have a washer or dryer.
You are also required to have renter's insurance and they offer it for 13.00 a month. That only covers the unit and not your posessions inside of it. Seems silly to me and another way to be gouged out of money.
The kitchens are way too small and that is sad. The living room and such are big but I'd rather have some of the square footage have been used to make a big more larger of a kitchen. There are only two small counter tops in which to operate on when cooking. If you like to cook or want to do a Thanksgiving dinner, you are going to have some major difficulty working in that small of a space.
The counters in the kitchen and bathrooms as well as the tubs are painted with a countertop coating. It stains very easily and the tubs are impossible to scrub clean.
You can find better deals for your money at many other places in the area. Be careful when you first look at these places and they tell you how much the rent will be. Within a week and a half the original price we were told went up three times and we ended up stuck in a lease paying a lot more then what we originally planned. We were also told that washers and dryers were included and it even stated that on the ad but we found out the day of signing our lease that they are extra and there were none available. That was never stated when we had our tour and the whole reason we picked this place was so we could do our own laundry. It was the key selling feature for us.
Oh one more thing....the parking lots are very very dark. So dark you can's see where you're walking or spot your vehicle. Kinda scary if you ask me!
We are moving soon and this time doing the research before signing anything. I recommend everyone do the same to avoid hard lessons. Ask questions, get it in writing, talk to the neighbors and ask them how they like living there. We wish we had.

We have email records to show that we have indeed made attempts to adress our concerns and I have called several times but to no avail. I thank you for your reply here but we are moving soon anyways so I don't feel the need to try any further.

Dear Resident,
I cannot address your concerns unless you bring them to my attention. Based on your description of your location, you have made no attempt to do so. I am available Thursday at 2pm if you would like to discuss any issues you have with your apartment and perhaps come to a resolution. Please call the office to confirm. I look forward to meeting with you.
Sincerely,
Kiely Barrett

I totally agree with this resident. This place seems very nice at first, but once you move in you discover that your utilities are high, the business center is only open 8:30-5:30 (which is you work a standard 8-5 job it is not very useful. The office says it's to prevent theft, but since the business center is in a different building I am not sure what 3 women in the office can prevent. The ink in the printer has been out for over 8 weeks.
The "State of the Art" fitness center is 78 degrees in the summer and is always out of toilet paper and cleaning supplies. It took over 4 phone calls and catching the maint. guy outside watering the plants to get it turned down to a comfortable temperature to exercise. They also advertise a tennis court which has turned in to cracked pavement and a net hasn't been up in two years.
The next issue is the parking lots. The parking lots have no lights which in my opinion is a HUGE safety concern for residents.
The office staff seems like they have no clue what they are doing and every time I call them they end up apologizing for something. The maint. staff is very nice, but can take them several weeks to complete a request.

The 3 ding dongs in the office are useless and you are dead on when you stated that they end up apologizing for something. I called several times to ask for a broiler pan, Flo didn't even know what the hell it was and told me they were located outside of each building...WTF? Then she thought I was talking about drip pans and said she'd put in a work order. I called again and spoke to the stupid manager Kiely and she told me a work order was put in and we would have it at the end of the month. This was early July. We never did get one. We also were never given a copy of our lease when we moved in. I asked several times through phone calls as well as emails and we never got that either. These women are completely useless airheads!!! Don't ever expect them to give two rats asses about you after you sign the lease. Once you sign that lease, they wash their hands of you and your issues until you come on here to ----- about how bad they suck. Then like above, they try to make it out like it's your fault that you never contacted them. LIARS Kelly, Flo and Kiely can kiss my f-ing ASS! I'm so much happier where I am living now then that joke of a place with those dumb bubble heads pretending to run the place.
