Our first few months here were nice, no problems really. Then they stopped their valet trash service, making each tenant drive to the single trash compactor. The trash service never really was on top of it anyways. The hot tub is NEVER hot. The workout facilities are often under maintennace and closed. The internet and printing services they provide are ridiculous at best. Parking is ok ONLY if you live near the offices. If you get a package or FedEx they will accept it in the office and not inform you that it has arrived. The maintenance team is absolutely terrible. Here's why...
On December 23rd, our heat and hot water was not working. They did NOT respond to the "emergency" paging service, no matter how many times we called. We took care of it on Christmas Eve, and they replaced our water heater. On Christmas Eve night, we got a call from the fire department saying that our apartment had been completely flooded, because something in the water heater that they just replaced broke. Our apartment was completely soaked, as well as the neighbors below us. We were displaced for five days. While they took care of our rent for those days, but they acted as if they weren't responsible for our ruined furniture and clothes. They are still trying to tell us to make a claim, saying that it was not their fault for the water heater breaking.
The office staff is very nice and professional, but these apartments are just not ran well. We are SO HAPPY to move and take our soaked furniture with us. Stay away from Tanglewood!

It's much better without the valet trash service. If you don't agree, you must not live on a ground floor apartment. I've never, ever, not once in 3 years of living here seen the fitness center closed for maintenance. They're always open 24 hours. On occasion one machine will need a new belt or something, but that happens. And... be a grown up and track your own packages. There are something like five hundred apartments in this complex. I certainly don't expect the office to tell me about my packages... that's my responsibility.
And yeah, that does suck about the water/heat/flood stuff. ... hope you had renter's insurance.

I worked for these apartments a few years ago (before you lived there).
a) it's not the office staff's responsibility to let you know you have a package. FedEx, DHL, UPS or whoever delivers it is supposed to leave you a notice on your door.
b)the valet trash service was a joke being that residents had a hard time understanding what day and what time you can put your garbage outside. It's not rocket science. I can't tell you how many notices I delivered to people in violation. I'm not at all surprised that they have removed this service.
c) why would it be the managements fault that they replaced your broken water heater with a faulty one? They did their job, they replaced it. Why would they knowingly put a faulty water heater in your apartment? just so they could pay to have the mess cleaned up, pay for your rent, and pay to have you stay somewhere else. That doesn't make sense.
d)The management REQUIRES that you have renters insurance. If you don't, and that's why you're not willing to make a claim, then you are breaking the signed contract that you have with the property (your lease) and they can evict you. Simple as that. The reason a lot of apartments require you to have renter's insurance is for instances such as yours.
