So-so place

The day we moved into these apartments I would have told anyone to run from this place and run fast- They didn't clean the unit I was moving into! The carpets were dirty and one closet smelled really strongly of cat urine. They hadn't even wiped anything down and there was trash inside some cabinets. We talked ot the leasing office just before they closed and the attitude was "so' we can clean it on Monday." (This was Friday afternoon and I was NOT happy about having to move into an unclean place!) Thankfully, the maintenance man came by to fix the AC noise and was much more helpful - he got a cleaning crew there that night so I could move in on Saturday. They then had to finisg cleaning and fixing things for two weeks following the move-in.
On the good side - they made the fixes we requested, I never hear my neighbors, it's really easy access to I25, they are pet friendly, the closets are big, and the units look pretty nice.
Other bad spots:
The place was built ot be valet trash service and they took that away. There are just two trash compactors on the entire HUGE property. Try to get a unit near the trash or you are going to really hate hauling trash out.
A few safety concerns over the last few months - one person had someone force their way in at gunpoint, another unit near me had what I think was a domestic disturbance.

Shame on you Tanglewood Estates. During this weak housing market many homeowners, such as myself, are looking at rentals as an alternative to purchasing for a few years. However, with this type of poor property management, leasing agents that obviously lack customer service skills and high rents, I think I may reconsider and buy a condo instead.
