Unless you hate yourself, don't live here

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
We moved in because we needed a cheap place to stay fast. Boy were we sorry.
When we first moved in, the place was a mess, even though it had been vacant for months and they had plenty of time to spruce it up for the next tenant. The major problem was gross splatters of something (not sure I want to know what) on the living room walls. The front door stuck and was extremely hard to open because it had been painted so many times and never filed down. The bathtub would not stay plugged and a tub full of water would be completely drained in less than 20 minutes. We had the maintenance come several times about the tub, and all they did was fiddle a little and leave, and it was never fixed. Also, the fridge leaked inside and out.
The layout of my apartment was terrible. The "kitchen" was a hallway, and had literally only 2 feet of counter (1 foot on each side of sink). Two people couldn't be in the kitchen at the same time, and you couldn't pass through the kitchen (which you had to to get to one of the bedrooms and the bathroom) with someone standing in it. The living room was so awkward that you couldn't arrange your furniture in anyway that was practical (especially if you have a couch).
Instead of replacing old stained carpet, they dye it.. over and over and over again. Our carpet started out a nice cream color and was dyed to many times that it ended up being a disgusting dark (almost black) brown.
Their solution to everything seems to be "Paint it!" EVERYthing was painted over.. and poorly.. light switches, outlets, even the buzzer thing from when the place used to be security locked. And it seems that they don't paint, they slop paint on, taking no effort to clean up drips and spills.
The elevator is a joke. Constantly filled with garbage, and residents and or their pets took great joy in relieving themselves in it. When the staff got around to cleaning it, the stuff they used had such a strong sent you couldn't breathe. Surprisingly it never broke while I lived there, but it's going to someday, and soon. It makes horrible grinding and other terrifying unidentifiable noises.
The parking was scarce, especially at night. We generally ended up parking 500 feet away. Only about 12 spaces in front of a building with about 30 apartments.
The hot water is a nightmare. We always had it, the problem was that it was EXTREMELY hot as soon as you turned it on. It actually burns you if you put your hand under it. Very very bad thing if you have a small child (especially since the hot water is on the left, so that's what the child would turn on first). Also, the water pressure is so high that it almost hurts to take a shower (kind of feels like tiny needles pounding down on you) In addition, the plumbing in general is very loud (you can hear your neighbor's toilet flush from 3 apartments down).
Of course, it doesn't help that the walls are paper thin. And the other occupants don't seem to care. They blare music at all hours of the day.
And if that doesn't keep you up at night, the constant car alarms going off will.
There is no grace period. If you don't have your rent in by closing on the first, it's $25 plus $1 for every day it's late, and an additional $100 after 8 days.
Overall, the place was not NEARLY worth the $700 a month for a 725 square foot 2 bedroom. Do not, under any circumstances move in. You'll regret it after only a few hours of living there.
Also, I know the apartment has no control over this, but it's worth a mention. Don't be tempted to move in because of the highschool next door. Yes, it's convenient, but the school is horrendous
