Appealing at first....

Okay, you must first understand that we are two broke college students and the special running that month ($399/MO instead of usual $589 for a 586sq ft apt) was very appealing and convenient. The walls have about 50 coats of paint on them, and we can hear people farting/having sex in the apartments surrounding us. Our refrigerator was/is junk, and it took 3 service calls for them to fix it. Problem #1 - the freezer door didn't stay shut, so in turn all the food in the freezer melted/thawed. Problem #2 - something was leaking water, so water would just about spill out onto the floor when we opened up the fridge door. The water went everywhere! Problem #3 - The freezer and the fridge are set with the same temperature control, so when the food in the freezer is actually frozen, so is the food on the top shelf of the fridge.
Ahh, the bathroom. Its small, but quaint for two young people just starting out on their own. Well, the shower head didn't work, and neither did the knob for switching the water from the bath to the shower head didn't work (unless you were Hercules). When we called this in, the lady pretty much said we were stupid because "all ya have to do is clean out the shower head and the knob, any idiot knows that!" Friendly' hahaha. Next! Oh, did I mention that within 2 or so weeks after we moved in we noticed 2 holes in our ceiling' And how about one of the support beams (made of brick for outside our building) is cracking and they refuse to see that as a problem. Back to the kitchen. Our kitchen faucet leaked enough water to warp the cabinets beneath the sink, and it took them almost a week to come in and fix it. It was the hot water knob, therefore we had no hot water and we could not do dishes for the entire time. We still have the plastic garbage bag taped around the pipes to collect the water from our "fixed" sink. And have you ever turned on your hot water and have to duck because you thought you were being shot at' Seriously, when we turn on the hot water, it sounds like a machine gun is going off. Not to mention the faucet shaking so violently it shakes the entire counter! We reported it, and the lady thought we were stupid because she didn't know what we were talking about. I explained the whole deal to her, and she still didn't get it so on the report she wrote "problem with kitchen faucet." Well, the guy came, turned on the hot water in the kitchen, the bathroom sink and in the tub and said "Nothing is wrong with faucets." Must be an ex Wal-Mart associate because you need some kind of disability to work there, and his is ignorance and no common sense.
We live on the third floor, and on the fourth floor there is a group of out of control kids that believe the elevator is their playground, and the mother (where's the father)' does nothing about it. We usually plan on taking the stairs more often than not. The elevator drops after the door closes, and sounds like it is actually going to. The "NO SMOKING" sign must be in Spanglish because no one pays any attention to that, including the pot smoking ------- wanna be porn stars that live somewhere in the building.
Parking is a very large problem, and those who issue the "WARNING" stickers (basically a parking ticket but only with an empty threat of being towed) put them on the wrong vehicles. For instance, I parked backwards in my space and got one of the darn stickers. (Lets say you'd have a better chance of getting Pamela Anderson to forfeit her implants than getting those things off.) Meanwhile, in the "COMPACT" vehicle parking spaces, we have full-size SUV's trucks and vans parking backwards daily, sometimes taking up two spaces, but no stickers have been stuck on their windows. Its really really annoying when it takes me 2 minutes to get out of my parking space, if I get one. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, I should have them buy me new tires when my lease is over!
Our closets never stay on track, you can see light through the front door seal, but a weather-strip will fix that (haha, it just made it impossible to close the door when its cold outside). Speaking of cold, our heat doesn't work. The thermostat is stuck at just below 80 degrees (its been at the same temp since we moved in). We can adjust it anywhere from 50 - 90 degrees, but it does absolutely no good. We have packing tape over almost every power cord holding them to the wall. They said nothing was wrong. The living room and the bedroom windows didn't have screens when we moved in. But a week after the report was sent in they were there.
Don't wash your laundry here either, because once again people cannot read. "No bleach or other chemicals in the wash!" Who knows how many clothes have been ruined by people putting bleach in the washing machine. But hey, what do we know' We're just a couple of broke college students who took the cheapest apartment they could find and who don't know anything at all! Just buy a house, Don't rent here.
