False Promises

I do not live there, but I had a very bad experience with the administrative staff and I'd like to warn people about it.
We were looking for a 2-b apt to move in on Apr 1 and I walked in to the office sometime in early Feb. We met and spoke with a very courteous and friendly office person- Patricia, who told us about the floor plans and availability. We made it very clear that we had certain conditions (6-month lease, south-facing apt, etc). Over the next few weekends, we made ATLEAST 4 trips down there to look at different apartments and to finalise on one. All this time, she (Pat) was very encouraging about the situation and we informed our current mgmt group in Boulder that we will be moving out on Mar 31.
On the day we were due to sign the lease she handed us a 12-month lease form which we, of course, were unwilling to sign. She checked her records and acknowledged that we had specified earlier that we ONLY wanted a 6-month lease.
Due to the incompetence of the people working there, we are now in a fix. With less than 2 weeks to find a place to move to, this is turning out to be a rental nightmare for us.
