Everything OLD, Uncaring Manager
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 12/18/2007
Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2007
Lived here for over 2 years, nothing but problems! OLD appliances, oven in such bad shape that the door didn't even shut all the way when cooking! OLD, loud water heater always had a strong sickening gas smell around it. The apartment NEVER got warm as heat comes from this faulty water heater (aqua-therm). After several complaints, they never offered to replace this old water heater. Heating bills were $200 per month. When taking a shower you will be standing under a stream of warm water and then wham!! Ouch! You are scalded with boiling hot water..which goes back & forth from boiling hot to freezing cold! This went on & on. They reluctantly came and did some half ass job of pretending to "adjust" the water heater several times and the problem continued. The truth was they did NOTHING! When we complained to the manager, Joni, she said "what do you expect ME to do'" Acted like we were crazy, even though other tenants we spoke to had the same problem with fluctuating water temperatures and a gas smell near their water heaters too. I guess Joni can go home to her own private house and take a comfortable shower! One older couple actually moved out due to getting burned all the time, plus this same couple's unit was flooded out because of another faulty water heater which burst upstairs...and the woman was a very sick cancer patient who did not need the stress of moving! Did management care...no, I don't think so! This was over a year ago, and other tenants are STILL having the same problem! I was told that only "Sue" made an effort to help! Got to the point where we were reluctant to have guests overnight, as we were all getting badly burned with this water problem. Lights are out all over the property, even in the common mail delivery area...with mailman using a flashlight to put mail in the boxes! (As mail never came before 5 p.m.) Manintenance guys are sarcastic, & act like they don't believe you when THEY can't fix your problem...if you can even get one who understands english. Dog poop all over grassy areas! Buildings need painting and cleaning badly, they are an ugly gray color like a prison. It's too bad, as this is a great location. The only thing this property has going for it is that everything is so close by. The rental agents are sooo nice when you come in to ask about renting an apartment, they have their "rental personalities" in high gear!! They are all smiles and full of promises. But, once you sign the lease you are treated like dirt!! When walking outside, if the office staff girls are riding in their "carts" with a prospective renter, they will yell "hi, how are you today'" all friendly and smiling! Probably to show the new renter how friendly the Vintage is! But if they are alone without a show to put on, they turn their heads and don't even acknowledge you!! Find a place with a manager who cares about the tenants and where you will get better service. Where you won't have to call in everyday for a week to get a simple repair done! Rent was raised from the first year we lived here. We were very disappointed with our experience at this property, and really wanted it to work out..but it was sure not worth all the frustrations and problems!!!
