Based on previous reviews this place has been awful since 2002...and it is still is! Staff is rude, finds ways to tack on additional fees to your already too high rent every month, the area is not safe (my car was broken into and cd player and gps stolen even though the POLICE station is across the street), there is never enough parking available (which is a big inconvenience at night and during the winter months), and there are ridiculous rules at this apartment like: you have to use their trash service called "valet trash" which means you have to put your trash out in a certain trash can, at a certain time, and bring it back inside at a certain time. (If you mess up you get charged $20). Their late policy is very strict. You only have 3 days after the 1st of the month to turn turn in your rent and if you have an emergency come up they dont care, they will charge you an EXTRA $200 late fee. That is not an exaggeration. The worst part is the staff, then the parking. Trust me when I say this is the worst apartment I have ever lived in.

I'm so sorry you have had a bad experience with The Vintage. I've lived here for 6 months now and I just wanted to comment on your posting. I've never noticed any additional fees tacked on to my rent- it's been the same since I signed the lease. As far as the break-ins, I did hear about some cars getting broken into and there were meetings held and fliers posted weekly about how to keep your stuff safer. They recommended NOT putting anything of value in your car to tempt a thief in the first place and it sounds like you had your GPS and CDs in your car. This isn't abnormal for anywhere you go, not just at The Vintage- you shouldn't do this even at the gym parking lot. The parking does stink, I will admit. I combated this problem by getting a garage and it's worth every penny. Plus, having a garage helps with the safety of my car and belongings. I actually LOVE the valet trash service! I never put my trash can out when they say because I work until 10 pm so I leave my trash out first thing in the morning and pick it up when I get home at 10:30 and never have gotten in trouble or fined. As for the late policy on the rent, this is VERY standard. I've lived in several other apartment complexes over the past 10 years and they only give you until the 2nd of the month to turn in the rent late and they charged an automatic $50 late fee on the 2nd day. After the 2nd day, they automatically fine you half the rent and start eviction procedings. I'm sorry to say but The Vintage policies are not unusually tough for an apartment complex. If they gave EVERYONE leeway for when rent was due or when people fall on hard times, they wouldn't be a functioning apartment complex. It's a business and they have to treat it as such, otherwise it wouldn't function. They have bills to pay as well and without our rent money they wouldn't be able to pay them. Again, I'm sorry you had a bad experience but I have definately lived in way worse apartments.

You my friend are an idiot. You don't have to put out your trash if you do not want to. Late fees? Have you ever lived in an apartment before? I am not aware of any apartments anywhere that don't charge you a late fee on the 3rd or 4th. One more thing, there in no such thing as a "safe" or "unsafe" area. It's wherever the criminals decide to hit that day. Wake up.

I agree, the office staff is rude and the valet trash service is a joke in this bad economic time. We should be given the choice of using the service or walking to the dumpster. Everyone will be paying extra for this service weather you use it or not. They are not telling you until your lease renewal that you trash bill will go up to $25 a month, as opposed to the $5 you are currently paying. Common sense tells you the Vintage is getting a huge kickback off of this at our expense. Their rent increases are also high.
