I had such high hopes for this place. The apartment was very nice looking, the neighbors always said hi, maintenance was decent any time we had a problem, and the location was pretty good for me.

HOWEVER:

the rent is high (our 1 br was $1150, and I know the studios were $850 plus.) I found that the website's claims for prices was way lowballing it.

Allergic renters beware: because it is an old factory, there is tons of mold, dust and debris. We lived on the first floor, and everytime people above us walked around, particles from the wooden ceiling fell down. I vaccumed like every day. One time even a long nail fell out of the ceiling!

Yes, the mother-daughter team play favorites. The guy, Brian, is o.k.

They never alerted us when they were doing major renovations, like painting the outside of the building which took place over 2 weeks. It made us sick and the office staff had no sympathy.

Some of the people living there were majorly sketchy. At least the pool was open for long hours during the summers, but I know that some of the "regulars" who hung out up there all the time were getting it on up there pretty often. They even talked openly about that while in the presence of other people! Also concerning sketchiness, there was this random car with its windows broken that sat in the lot for several months.

Hopefully its open now, but in June, the gym was supposed to be closed for renovations for no more than 30 days. All they were doing was getting new machines, as far as we were told on the paper fliers taped to doors. HOWEVER, it was still closed more than 45 days later. This was annoying to someone who thought having a gym was a benefit to living in this facility.

I didn't find the office staff to be sticklers for rules when I notified them that someone upstairs had a stupid dog who was barking / yipping all night, several nights in a row, and dogs are NOT ALLOWED there. I wasn't trying to tattle on the people, but it was disturbing my sleep! The office personnel said, "But he's so cute! I don't want to tell them they have to get rid of it!" In my opinion, I have to do things I don't like at work, but if its for the good of all involved, I just suck it up. Rules definately have a purpose in an apartment complex.

At least I got all my deposit back.

The car with the smashed in window is still here, and it's almost May. Brian's gone; they let him go for some reason and they didn't send out any notification. He was one of the reasons we ultimately decided to live here; he was polite, helpful and fair. I hope he left to pursue better opportunities, not for something negative.
