While the landscaping and the new construction are seductive when looking around for a new place to call home, beware that looks can be deceiving.
Once you get past the flowers and the decorations, The Hawthorne leaves a lot to be desired, particularly since a very small one bedroom apartment will cost you over $1300 a month. I lived at the Hawthorne and don't anymore, and here are some of the reasons why... We had three building "inspections" by the staff in the span of 2 months; the carpet to our stairwell was constantly falling off the steps, making it a hazard to go up and down to our apartment; we were told the pool would be open into late October/beginning of November, and it was actually closed in September; Dog stations with plastic bags and garbage were almost always out of bags (i saw many tenants go home and come back with paper towel or a bag of their own) and trash was smelly and not emptied frequently; one of the leasing agents (name starts-------) was entirely unprofessional and unqualified to do her job, and unfortunately given too much responsibility considering her ability; the coffee station and cookies in the clubhousethat you are enticed with and told is refreshed throughout the day was always full of crumbs and dirty cups and not refreshed; we were lied to about the carpet in our apartment - told it was brand new and learned upon moving out that it was 1.5 years old - yet we had to pay for "wear and tear" ($700) after less than a year.......The Hawthorne is not worth the money.......the management nickle and dimes their rentors and make false claims.......they are overrated, over priced and poorly managed. I happened to see the incident with the loose dog that another rentor wrote about on this site, and I know for a fact that it was handled extremely poorly by the staff, since the loose dog that bit that gentleman was still loose days later. My advice - spend your money elsewhere.
