I lived there 1996 to 2003

Years at this apartment: 1996 - 2003
When I moved in to Huntington Woods my rent was in the $740.00 range for a 3 bedroom unit. It was a strict, well taken care of community of nice people. When I moved out recently, my rent was to be over $900.00 per month if I renewed by lease. Back in 1996 the place was gorgeous. The landscaping was maticulous. It was a community of hard working tenants striving to live in a nice place but ones who worked especially hard to afford to live there. Now, Huntington Woods accepts welfare and Section 8 candidates and the overall opinion of the "old timers (those that have lived there for a while)that work hard for a living" are pretty resentful. It appears because there are people living there for free, they just don't care. The grounds are littered with papers, cans and food, and there are some apartments with occupants well over the capacity of the number of people that are suppose to be living in a particular unit per the size of apt. and what is written in the lease. There used to be a rule about the appearance of the tenants porches and inspections were done regularly. Now, you see laundry hanging up and the porches used for storage! There are young children running around unsupervised, climbing the trees, breaking the branches, littering, running up and down the exterior stairways and breezeways and it truly appers to be a upper class housing project!
