My fiance and I moved in here in 2001 with our new baby. Then, it was a gorgeous place, considered a true LUXURY place to live. I remember the Leasing Consultant, Amy, to be wonderful. The interior was beautiful, with new carpets, fresh paint, all amenities (garbage disp., dishwasher) and cathedral ceilings. They used to have strict policies on who could live there. If you were arrested for anything drug-related, they'd evict you immediately. It was in the lease. We had problems over and over with the central air, and ants in the kitchen, but maintenance was pretty quick. When my fiance and I seperated, the staff knew and treated me really sympathetically. When I said I didn't think I could afford the rent all alone anymore, they tried helping me get into a cheaper 1 BR and even sent me a little "Cheer Up" card. However, recently I went to visit an old friend there, and the place is now the goddamn GHETTO! It's all Section 8/Welfare people now, disrespectful, loud, dirty minorities and LOTS of drugs, including drug deals frequently out in the parking lot. People hang from windows, garbage is all over the place, there's loud music, yelling, ugh!! What happened to this place'! The mistake they made was opening the place to be invaded by low-class people on welfare and Section 8 that are taking over everything because they think they deserve everything handed to them, so they can continue to breed and leech off of everyone else. I'm by no means well-off, but I worked my butt off to afford that place and have nice things. I might as well quit my jobs and apply for "assistance" so I can help turn whatever nice places are left in this state into an expanded ghetto.
UNLESS YOU'RE A WELFARE BENEFICIARY OR WANT TO LIVE LIKE ONE, FIND ANOTHER RENT!!
**Update: In the past 2 weeks it was reported that a dead body, apparently a dead from a drug-overdose was found in the little patch of woods at this complex. Need any more of a reason to stay away'!

live there now and couldnt agree with you more.my husband and i work very hard to be able to afford a rent that high and it really eats at me that this place has the nerve to charge hard working, law obiding people to pay the astronomical rent prices while letting lazy state and federal leeches rent at discounted prices and or for free depending on who is paying the tab.as far as the noisey neighbors i have just resorted to calling the police now and maybe the bristol police dept will get tired of coming night after night the slacking management will finally begin to do something about it.although i doubt it.i only have until july 2006 until my lease is up and will not renew unless they throw out all of the existing trash that is living there now mooching from the state and government that i am paying for on top of it. i also want to add that i think the good comments that are in this site pertaining to huntington woods were written by the management and not actual tenants.take this advise.do not go look at these apartments.looks are very disceiving.

I'm glad that a friend of mine recommended this site to me. I have to agree with you and others like you who are tired of the ghetto that this once nice community has become. In the last 5 years I've been here, there has been nothing but a severe downgrade in the quality of life and people that reside here. I've seen the drug deals go on, I have to deal with the loud, noisy and often, drunken neighgors - it is defintely the projects. What used to be a community of professionals has now turned into a welfare ridden rat hole.

I no longer look forward coming home to this place and you would think for the exhorbitant rents they charge, they would take the considerations of decent, hard working residents and do something about it. I have talked to management countless times and their only course of action is to send out a flyer. I've expressed my disgust about these low-life trashy people and the only response management can give me is that they try to promote a community-friendly, nieghborhood and that it is up to me to talk with my 'neighbors'. Are you insane!?!?! Whatever happened to enforecement of laws, rules and regulations!?! What about enforcing the lease!! It is so twisted and assinine that they are more concerned about me using the wrong kind of screws to hold up a mirror on the wall rather than all the bs that goes on here on a daily basis.

I also asked how in the hell can a neighborly environment be achieved when the other party doesn't even give a ----, all I got was a blank stare.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. I would love to be out of here before the end of the year.

First of all, let me say if anyone thinks THIS is the GHETTO, it is painfully obvious you have lived a very pampered life and have probably never ventured out of the east coast. Secondly, and as petty as this is, I can't restrain myself...'dirty minorities'..could you be any more racist?! While I agree that it is unfair for hardworking people to pay as much as we do while others are not required to pay nearly as much, I would never resort to laying the problem on 'minorities'. That is a very ignorant thing to say and by the way...I've seen just as many non-minority section 8 tenants...would you say they are 'dirty' too? It's very sad to come across a posting like this but it does remind me that no matter how much time goes by, or how much 'progress' is made, there will ALWAYS be people like you who'll make sure society stays one step behind. On a final note...I absolutely LOVE it here! The people are friendly, the grounds are well kept, and the neighbors are quiet. If you're not a racist SOB, you should definitely keep HW on your must-see list!!

Thanks to everyone for the reviews. My wife and I moved from Arizona and found our apartment was allowing section 8, when they did everything went downhill. We said we would never live in an apartment with section 8 again. No need to bother with this place.

I agree with firedancer1211. I lived in Huntington Woods from 2002-2006. Although it has gone downhill and they should be more careful with who they rent to I wouldn't blame it solely on the minorities. My mother was on section 8 and she is decent and hardworking but it still wasn't enough to raise two children without child support. She wasn't on welfare, food stamps...etc. I lived in a building with people who were mentally disabled and we had no problems with them. They would curse at times but during the night they were very quiet. We had a lot of problems with WHITE college students getting drunk in the parking lot and leaving beer bottles around my mom's car. White people do buy and deal some of those drugs that are being dealt in the parking lot. Currently a white cocaine dealer lives there.(He's near the Prospect St. side and drives a big green truck with flashy rims... go check out the color of his skin!) This place doesn't come close to the projects and Bristol is full of ghetto wannabe's. I am a minority and I am sick of the trash coming in but white people are acting the same way. Go down to the West End or Davis Drive and see the white trash that lives there, teen pregnancy and people living off of welfare. Anyone who thinks that Huntington Woods is the projects please take a visit to New York City and go find a real project.
