I hate to talk bad, but....

I stayed there from June-September 2005. Overall my experience wasn't terrible. Everyone says it's really ghetto there, I don't know if I would say people are hanging from the balconies & there are drug deals going on, but then again, that could be that I just never saw them. I can say that the trash was always overflowing & smelled terrible, I didn't hang out too much at home, but the quality of the people that lived near me weren't the kind of people I would have chosen to live near. They weren't mean or nasty or anything, but they give you a pretty negative vibe. I lived there in the summer and I can tell you it was the hottest summer I have had in years, because my room was in direct sunlight & even with the blinds closed and a/c cranked all the way I could not seem to cool it off enough to even be comfortable! And forget about using the pool to cool off, because they have strict hours and refuse to let you in "early", and on hot days everyone in the complex brings all their friends and family there so there's no room for the people who actually live there & are paying the rent!
There is a gym there, but it's like 100 degrees in there (even when it's not hot out) and they only have a fan in the corner of the room, it's just as well though, because you wouldn't want to use their gym anyways, the equipment is dirty, dangerous & hard to use because it's ancient!
There is one assigned parking spot, the others have to walk from MUCH further away (unless you are in teh very back) and here's something interesting, your parking spot is numbered different from your apartment number, I thought this was weird, so I asked why, and the response I got was that it was for safety reasons, ok that makes sense, but is security THAT big of a problem that youhave to "hide" which aprtment you live in''' People can still see you walk from your place to your car everyday anyways.
But here's my favorite part, the maintenance comes & goes as they please leaving nothing but oily dirty footprints on your white carpet to let you know they were there, if you want to know why, you'll have to call the office. and the icing on the cake was that when I was ready to move, I still had several hours to go before "my time was up" there, yet they came in & put all my nicely pressed dress shirts & expensive suits in trash bags!!! they did that with my radio, lamp, & various other things & left them in my living room. Apartenly they though I was leaving them behind'!'!' Also, they walked in on me (again, hours before I was required to leave) and I was doing some last minute cleaning, I thought I was alone & needed to use the restroom, I left the door to my house locked, but my bathroom door open, well I almost had a heart attack when I heard someone walk in (while I was in the middle of "my business"!) I still can't figure that one out. I told management about all that & that they had to pay for my dry cleaning too & they refused, eventhough they know they were in the wrong. You have to expect that though from them, the management was terrible at best. I should have known that from the start though, but I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt.
Also, I learned in the summer they have the sprinklers on alot, which is a good sign I guess, but I hope you can run! & don't have to carry valuables that can get damaged if wet, because they spray all over the walking paths! That was a joke, and a huge irritation when leaving for or coming home from work or events.
The only good I can say is that the place had a decent layout with good closet space. & two full bathrooms. Also, forget about getting any large furniture or anything up the stairs, they are extremely narrow & have an elbow turn at the top. It took 3 big guys over an hour to get it in, and it's not THAT big! Your best bet is to take the sliding glass doors off the hinge!
They outside does look nice, but the neighborhodd is crappy. There are terribly shaddy looking apartments right next door, and on the other side of you is definitely ghetto!
However, there is another good thing I could say about location, everything is close by, banks, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. I wouldn't say I feel safe enough to walk the streets around there at night, maybe just the complex, but with my boyfriend, because it's not really well lit.
If you can do the drive from Ellington, I would tell you that your money is MUCH better spent at Autumn Chase, I lived there for a couple years & was impressed with every single aspect of it from my initial visit to the day I left, and I only left because I had to relocate(read my review there, I forget my exact title, but I wrote something about kicking myself for leaving, and I just left in recently, after finding this site). Overall, I wouldn't say it was a complete nightmare, but I didn't feel entirely comfortable & at home there!! I'd say don't live here for the money you will pay, unless you are okay with everything I wrote. Good Luck! Thanks for taking the time to read this, hope it helped you =)
