NEVER, EVER MOVE HERE

We wanted to move into Pine Brook because we wanted to save some extra money and buy a home. We looked online and in several aparment guide circulars where they all said, "no security deposit with approved credit, no application fee." On the day we went by (around the first of June) they had an apartment just open up and asked if we wanted to see it. We looked and it was HORRIBLE! It stank of cigarettes so bad I thought there had been a fire and the white walls were brown! But they assured us they would replace everything and it would be fine. So they took $100 application fee (that should have been our first clue - it said no application fee in the circulars) and assured us it would be done 2 months later for us to move in on Aug 1 since our lease was up on the 9th.

It was getting to be late July and I called to see how things were going with the redo, and the RUDE office manager said they had run into problems and it wouldn't be ready on time. I asked her to keep us informed of what was going on so we could make arrangements with movers, etc. She didn't. So I called again and apparently they had sent the workers to New Haven for two weeks to work on other stuff and our apartment wouldn't be ready until mid to late Aug. Again she was very RUDE about it, like she was angry that I dared call and interupt her while she was watching her SOAPS!

The last time I called (my husband handled her after this one) she said we could come sign a lease on a Friday, but to come in the morning because she leaves early on Fridays. The only reason she agreed to this was becasue I asked after she wouldn't give me a straight answer about when it would be done.

My husband called that Friday to see when we could come by, and she said it wasn't done, and DOUBLED the move-in amount! We went up there to find out why. She said it was because of all the work they had to do to it - new carpets, etc. She said they had put over $4000 worth of work in there and couldn't let us move in without paying a security deposit. I got ANGRY! I told her that was HER problem. They HAD to replace it because of the person who lived there before, not because of us and we shouldn't have to pay for it! At which point she changed her tune and said our credit wasn't good enough.

We asked for our $100 application fee back and left. If this is how she treats the people who are new and prospective tenants -how do they treat the ones already trapped in a lease' uWDgQKY3Vkv8FKIsB8Ax
