Dont waste your money renting here. There are better places in surrounding towns like North Haven and Branford. They have increased the rents by about 200.00. There are alot of transients that live here. And alot more college kids so the noise levels have increased recently. The pool is not Olymic size as they claim either. Its 4 ft deep and no larger than the standard oval above ground pool. The Pet Policy has changed dramatically also. No more cats and you pay rent for your pet in addition to your own rent with a sec. deposit required for the pet as well. Most people do clean up after thier dogs but there are some that ruin it for everyone else by not cleaning up the dog poo. If you do consider renting here, come in at different times of the day and talk to the people that live here and see what they have to say. Most dont have much good to say. Alot wont buck the system by complaining or rating Stony Brook for fear of eviction. I wish we had taken the time to stop and talk to the tenants before me moved in. We cant wait to move out. The office staff is nice before you move in, less than helpful once youre here. Nothing is thier fault and they are politely argumentative when you do need something. They are very fake. Maintance is so-so. Some things are addressed and some fall to the wayside. The maintance staff are just handyman style workers. I suppose they do the best that they can do. Dont count on a professional worker to come in and fix anything, supposedly the handyman knows it all. I heard some neighbors saying that they are looking to sell the complex, they were surveying the grounds not long ago so maintance may turn around in the future. Just some things to conside before putting out youre hard earned dollars...
