Rent Office Horrible When Issues Arise

I agreed 110% with the reviews on this website until very recently. The place is great to live in. Everybody is really nice. It is the type of place that you can have a package on the outside of your door all day, and nobody will touch it. It is a little on the expensive side, but that has been stated before.

Here is where I had a problem. The apartments have central air. During the summer months, my electric bill was around $115 for the worst month. And we really cranked the A/C, so that is to be expected.

In the dead of winter, randomly we received a $170 electric bill. Remind you, they pay for heat, so this had no effect on this bill. We used DOUBLE the amount of kwh compared to your typical 2,000 sq ft single family home. And our aparment is only 1,000 sq feet. We have nothing in our apartment that should generate this much of a bill. We turn off all the lights before we leave for work every morning, and things like this. Another side note: We have 5 to 6 light bulbs burn out a month. And I purchased the 'last for 2 years' more expensive brands.

Something just didn't make sense. I talked to the electric company, and they were wonderful. They explained everything to me, and how they can only charge me for what they deliver. They had somebody come out and check the system, and everything was fine. One thing they told me (which was alarming), is that my apartment had a HISTORY of higher electric bills in the winter. That doesn't make sense.

So, I went back to Autumn Chase Apartments, and their initial and only response was: "Not our issue." I requested somebody from the apartment complex check into my apartment. They did so when I was at work. He said there was no issues. However, all of a sudden our hot water is scolding hot compared to before. Obviously, he fooled around with it because something was wrong.

Talking further with the electric company, they said it is probably one of two things:
1. Somebody is tapping into our electric source. (This would be an issue for the apartment complex).
2. A fault fridge or water heater that is vapping the energy. (Also the apartments issue because they are providing broken items).

I am currently in the process of dealing the BBB because Autumn Chase is not willing to take responsibilities for their own issues. It is sad too, because if Autumn Chase apartments only admitted something is wrong, I would have recommended this complex to anybody who would listen.

But a true sign of a good apartment complex isn't one that treats you nicely when everything is going good. It is how they treat you when there is a problem.

On a side note: I have talked to other individuals who live here. And they all say their AVERAGE electric bill is always over $100. For people who have owned houses, you know that doesn't make sense. Especially during the winter months. Not only is the rent expensive, but your bills will be higher.

I appreciate you taking the time to read my comments. Thank you.
