Years at this apartment: 1999 - 2003
I have lived in these apartments since 1999. My rent started out at $685.00 and no utilities. They have increase the rent by $15.00 each January, so now it is at $730.00. They do no proactive maintenance in the apartments themselves, however they have a decent response time to maintenance requests.
Beginning last year (on 01/01/2002) they began to require all residents to pay for utilities (which are unfairly prorated among all current residents and does fluctuate depending on their occunpancy percentage.)
I live only with my wife and no other occupants (no children). Yet we have to pay a minimum of $28.40 a month for the new utilitis fees which easily adds up to over $360.00 a year in extra expense to live here.
Also, they have jacked the prices on their washers and dryers by $0.50 each per load. Dryers now cost $1.50 per load, and washers costs $1.75. They use the Mac-Gray system of a "credit card" which in a way is nice because it keeps the people out who don?t actually live in the complex from using the machines. However they break frequently and there are always one or two units per laundry room (there are several) that are out of service. One washer was out of service for over six months (I am not making this up.)
The staff is friendly and helpful.
Bottom line: Friendly staff only goes so far. This place has tanked ever since it was bought out from Gove by Equity. Look elsewhere - the apartments themselves are not worth $730.00 a month plus an extra $30.00 in utilities.
