I have lived at the Summit for almost a year now with my fiance and we have just resigned our lease. We love the apartment we are in. When we saw the place they had just installed new carpeting and put on a fresh coat of paint. I have been reading some these revies and I think they are a bit harsh.

The $300 non-refundable redecoration fee is great - if you want to paint the walls you can and they'll take care of painitn gback. Most apartments won't even let you paint the walls so this is a nice feature. Also, I once got screwed because of holes I put in the walls after my previous landlord told me I could hang stuff and took money out of my security deposit to patch the holes, so it was a comfort for me to know I could hang what I wanted.

I will agree the pet deposit is a bit steep. When we signed our original lease the pet deposit was $450. Needless to say my cat stays at my mother's and will stay there until my fiance and I buy a home. I can't fathom paying that much and you don't get it back.

The maintenance crew is great, especially Marco. We came home one night and found water leaking into our kitchen. Apparently the vacant apartment above us had sprung a leak. Marco literally dropped eveything he was doing to rush over and suck the water out of our ceiling. ANy problems we have had he has taken care of. The place would be much worse if they didn't have him.

Snow removal is great...though my fiance and I both have 4 wheel drive. Never a problem getting up and down the hill and they sand it really well. The plow guys really do a great job as do the landscaping crew in the summer. Every week they are mowing and trimming.

Recently they have been making some improvements to the units - some apartments have gotten all new decks which is nice - they are currently powerwashing all the siding and it's starting to look really nice on the outside.

I will agree the laundry arrangements aren't that great. In my unit there are two washers and two dryers (one that doesn't work all that great) and they are shared between 16 units. You never know when they are open or not until you walk down to check. I do recommend going to a laundromat - besides it's quicker to do it there in a large washer than to do two or three smaller loads at the apartment. Good to have if you only have to do a small load though.

All in all, we have had a great experience at The Summit Apartments and will continue to stay here until we buy a ouse. I do recommend the 12 month lease - the price goes up quite a bit if you want to renew a shorter lease.
