After living here for almost 4 years we were disheartened to learn that we had been paying $125 per month more than a brand new resident would pay. When we confronted the office staff, we were told that there is nothing they can do about it because prices were higher when we first moved in. They claim that our $1175 per month rent is a discount off the $1200 per month "off the street" rent, yet anybody calling for the price from "off the street" is told it is $1050 per month. We were told (after the fact) that if we moved out, vacated the apartment, reapplied, and paid the application fees again, we could get the lower rent. So their scam is to get you settled in and then jack up your rent just enough to make it not worth the expense of moving after your lease expires.
We also endured heating bills which reached over $200 per month in the winter due to extremely poor insulation. The sliding doors leaked so bad that the plastic sheets we installed to block the cold actually blew off the doors. The apartment was still extremely cold even with the high heating bills (a thermometer left on the floor by the bedroom slider registered about 50 degrees with the heat on).
There are also "special needs" residents living in the building, one of whom would request hugs and kisses from the female residents. This became enough of a problem that I had to enter through the side door whenever the resident was loitering in the lobby.
