I have lost half of my deposit for nothing. The lady who has inspected after handed over my keys states there were 3 black marks on the carpet in both living room and dining area. But i cannot see anything.

I lived with my wife and daughter for a year and we maintained the apartment clean.

when i vacated apartment, i got it professionaly cleaned.I am unable to see any black stains which the lady can see.

I have requested her, that i want to take pictures of those black stains, but she refused for the same.

She treated me as if i am roadside begger and asked me to report wherever i can.

She charged me $680 from my deposit for the stains which she said she can view, but i can't.

I came to USA in the year 2000 and i have visited almost all the parts of USA.

But never lost a single dime from my rental deposit.

When i argued stating, how can you charge this much amount even though there were no stains, she said as per the charges sheet they have handed over to me, they can charge anything even though the carpet is 3 years old.

Basically, they want the tenants to pay the charges for the carpet replacement they do after every 3 years.

That is what i have figured out.

I have handed over my keys on July 31st 2009.

As per the sheet which they gave me, Hamden developers LLC (the firm name which appears on lease agreemnt) has to pay the remaining balance by August 31st 2009.

But they didn't.

I have called this lady whose name is Sandy (book keeper) who is available only from 2.30pm to 3.30pm(EST) and she is the only woman who take care of all the book keeping issues on August 31st to ask about my remaining deposit.

Again disappointed with the rudeness.

She didn't even apoligized for not sending my check in time, instead asked me to do whatever you can do and added if you want to sue us, go ahead and sue.

Hence people, don't get scammed.

There were lot of good apartments in hamden, don't get fooled with landscaping this apartment has, as i did.

And if you still don't believe and wants to rent, then go ahead and rent.

But don't expect your deposit back.

Same exact thing happened to me with the carpet and all. It was perfectly clean (I had them professionally steamed) except they didn't keep half my deposit, they kept the whole thing and werent very nice in the process. The property manager is not a nice person and does not care about you or your money. Think twice before moving in.

I had the EXACT experience as well as three of my Aspen Glen neighbors. When we moved out, they kept our ENTIRE deposit claiming that we stained the carpet. I am convinced that they lay the rooms with white carpet so that they can use this excuse every time. Overall, my family enjoyed our years there, but left very bitter because of this one experience.
