As I sit here with my floor vibrating from the music downstairs I am counting the days until my lease is up. The music probably isn't that loud, but the walls are paper thin. The hallways smell and it bleeds into your apartment because there is no ventilation. They did take care of a very embarassing roach problem, I will at least give them that, but I still see them here and there. It could of been a good way to sublet my apt. though :). They do not replace lightbulbs in hallways and stairwells or clean up when someone who had too much fun on a Friday night throws up in front of the entrance to the building. I understand the ecomony is bad but they are not charging me any less rent. They are actually more demanding and almost seem desperate to get they money nowadays. Hopefully the free market will work itself out and other properties will profit from the Broadmoor's horrible management style. My husband has also come home late at night to notice that people prop the main doors open so that anyone can get in. Also, I notice alot more shady characters in the building, despite what they say about background checks I think they are lying. I have seen warrant officers looking for people in the next building. Your not immune to the stuff that goes on down on Dixwell, living here. I've also heard from town officials, that they had alot of fire violations. If a fire broke out in the hallway, your only escape would be off of your balcony, because of the way the hallways are shaped, and they have no smoke purge/evac system. In all, the first year was not bad but the standards have significantly dropped in the second year. I do not think that the price is justified for what you get. Spare yourself the misery, or only lease for 1 year and keep in mind not to sign a second lease term, because by then you'll be fully emersed in all the BS I've just mentioned, and it gets old really quickly.
