I lived at Hamden Ridge as a college student. I shared a one bedroom which we expected to be tight, but was actually quite comfortable. The office staff was very friendly and helpful (even when I got a job in DC and wanted to break the lease early). The maintenance manager is the best I've seen. He is usually always on site and in most cases would take care of any problems the same day. I never waited more than 24 hrs for assistance. The property isn't huge, so even if the spots right outside your door are full, you can always find parking nearby. I am a baby when it comes to safety, and I was not afraid to walk to my apartment from my car at night. Everything was always salted and plowed/shoveled before I left for 9am classes. I also had brand new kitchen appliances, hard wood flooring throughout, new kitchen and bathroom cabinets and fixtures. I believe all apartments have balconies or patios, which is also a great bonus. The only thing I didn't like was the neighbors above us always walked around in high heels on the hard wood floor and did some kind of trampoline-like cardio (I have no idea what) but it was SO loud, it sounded like there were elephants in MY apartment. However, when they were kind enough to remove their shoes it was quiet. I believe everyone is required to put down area rugs to prevent this anyway-- but it was definitely doable.

The best thing is, as a poor college student, who did not rely on her parents to pay her living expenses, I could afford it (with a roommate)! All of my friends lived in nearby apartment complexes and paid HUNDREDS more than I did, and ALWAYS complained about management. At Hamden Ridge, you do not have to sacrifice quality of living for the lower rental rates.
