Fairly well-kept, and maintenance/office staff are very responsive -- often took care of things same day I called and did it right. Grounds well-kept and did decent job in the winter of clearing paths and plowing lots. Perhaps I got lucky, but very quiet for basically the entire time I lived there. And never felt unsafe, though I was within the inner "U" on Denison St. and not out on Farmington Ave with the rest of the city. Definitely not cheap though for the size that you get -- very small 1 bedroom, and looked often to find something bigger and cheaper. And yes, there are a fair amount of rats around near the dumpsters late at night, but you are living in a city and not a rural area. They'll stay away from you, and never had issues within my apartment of rats. Did have squirrels get stuck in range hood stack, which was unpleasant -- did take a few tries there to get them to cap the chimney on the roof.
