Park Place Towers is great at selling you on this place. You come here and view the model apartment and you are are ready to move in on that same day. Little do they tell you that you really cannot control the temperature in your apartment making you feel as though you are in a college dorm. I must say I was also sold by the gym...but if you want to work out past 11pm then forget about it (some of us have lives that don't revolve around what Park Place feels is a normal schedule). Also, they don't have a stair machine. If you need to do laundry at 1 am...forget about it. I don't understand why I can't workout when I want or do laundry when I want if there are video cameras in each place with security supposedly monitoring the areas. Parking is the best of all the places around here, but pray there isn't a snowstorm because finding a park inside the garage is really hard in that situation. Then, if you can't find a park, but don't want to accumulate 2 feet of snow on your car outside and decide to park inside the garage in a non-parking spot that is in an area that is not blocking traffic, you will get a big orange sticker on your car saying it will be towed. Maintenance is a little slow unless you deem it as urgent. Rent increase is twice that of inflation. Park Place is probably one of the safer complexes around here, but management was so upset when 3 apartment breakins occured at the end of last year. Management acts as though security here is unbreakable, but really if someone wants to sneak in here, it is possible. I have seen people walk in through the garage as cars come into the building as well as I have had guest come to my apt. that did not sign in through the concierge. So, I don't know why management was so shocked. Unfortunately, this place is the best of what Hartford has to offer, and they really have the competetive advantage; otherwise, I would have left 2 years ago. But at a $50 rent increase each year...I don't know if I can continue to afford it since my income does not increase at the same rate. Also, when I visited to consider moving here, I specifically asked management can you hear your neighbors...I was told 'no' but that was a big lie.
