The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

This is an honest review from the perspective of a 24 year old guy who has lived in an apartment here for the past year.

The Good--

These apartments are incredibly cool and unique. I drove in from out of state, saw one and was sold. Brick, tall ceilings, free heat and AC. They're converted from an old mill... a perfect bachelor pad.
The maintenance staff couldn't be nicer.
The location is convenient-- if you live here, you're an easy walk to a number of clubs or bars. Plus, you're located right next to the interstate. There are also some young professionals living here, I made some great friends.

The Bad--

When I was looking at the apartment, I was told noise was not really a problem. Lies. I live on the TOP floor facing the street, and it's no lullaby. The trains pulling into the station across the street are the least of your worries.

You will learn to hate motorcycles. That's because Union Street turns into Fast and the Furious starting Wednesday night.

Car alarms ring through the night... club bass echoes through the floor, drivers sit on their horns right outside the window. Don't let the staff here sugar-coat it... if you live on the street side, you will need tranquilizer to get a decent night's sleep.

Ugly--
This area is no Mary Poppins. It gets sketchy at night, especially during the week when there are derelicts wandering the street. I do not feel safe when I have to leave the building at night, although I have not been mugged yet. Also... do not keep valuables in your car. Mine was broken into twice. Plus, parking is a total disaster here... I'm not sure how else to put it.

My last gripe is with the leaking roof. Don't tell me its getting fixed, and have me find brown water landing on my head a year later. Neighbors on both sides of me have the same problem and we've all given notice. I guess keeping me dry isn't one the priority list.

This place has potential... but keep these factors in mind.
