I am appalled by the racism of some of these posts! Papa's Pizza is packed on sunday nights but just because it happens to be mostly black people doesn't mean they're all criminals. It is disturbing to see the public drunkeness, open containers, littering, and even intoxicated fire and police officers IN UNIFORM go unchecked during St. Patrick's day festivities, but God forbid there be four or more black guys gathering in front of a bar on a saturday night- they MUST be in a gang, call the police!
If you're not a racist, ignorant person, living here is great. Remember that you have chosen to live downtown above a row of bars- this includes drunk college students, loud crowds, loud music, motorcycles, trains, and car horns. Parking on the street is hard to find but you can pay $70/month to park in the lot. Walking alone at night is never a good idea, so I take mace with me when I walk my dog.
Living downtown also has its perks- you can walk to bars, restaurants, and Bushnell Park. In the summer it's great to walk through the city. If you're friendly you can get free passes to the bars when they have events. Be nice to Jorge, the maintenance guy and he'll be nice to you. I haven't had any problems with things being fixed when we ask for them nicely.

Racism??!! Papa's Pizza is a haven for black thugs and troublemakers..and its a lot more than "4 black guys." In January, two ------ walked into a crowded Papa's and started firing. Two people wounded one dead. Oh yeah - and when the murderers tried to make their getaway, they hit and killed another innocent person. How many shootings and stabbings does that make at Papa's in the last 10 years? Check the bullet holes in the facade you idiot a get a clue. It is what it is - minorities making the area unsafe.
