Hear your neighbors bathroom habits - horrible apartments!

We moved to CT in September of 05 - we had a limited amount of time to find a place to live due to a job change. Since we were moving 550 miles away, going to see the physical apartments was not an option. We had to make all arrangements online and on the phone.

While searching apartments, we came across Aspen Woods and we were impressed with the layouts of the apartments as well as other aspects when compared to other apartments we were looking at. After several days of searching, we settled on Aspen Woods and began the leasing process. My first sign that this was a mistake should have been this leasing process. We had to pay $40 to have certified copies of our driver??s licenses', pay stubs, and current lease as well as a notarized credit application (all of these documents we had to pay to have certified copies made and notarized as well) overnighted to the leasing office along with a certified bank check for more than $3000.00. We sent these documents UPS and they had to be received within 48 hours to be valid - we used the address that the manager gave us only to have the packet returned to us because the address was "incorrect". Turns out, THE LEASING OFFICE WILL UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ACCEPT ANY PACKAGES FOR TENANTS, SO EVEN THOUGH THE PACKAGE WAS ADDRESSED TO THE LEASING OFFICE, IT DID NOT SPECIFY "CLUB HOUSE" (nor did the manager mention that this was necessary to put on the address)SO THE PACKAGE WAS DEEMED UNDELIVERABLE. We were out the initial shipping costs and all of the charges to have the documents certified because of the leasing office's time limit. We had to do it all over again - but since we were moving to a new state and starting a new life we shrugged it off as a simple mistake and let it go. HUGE MISTAKE!

I will admit, we were pleased with the layout of the apartment. They are spacious and have nice kitchens and bathrooms. However, the quality of the apartments is horrid. The walls are so thin we can hear our neighbors in the BATHROOM (and I mean absolutely everything they are doing in the bathroom). We live in a center apartment meaning there are tenants above and below us - the upstairs tenants are despicable. We have turned them in numerous times, we have called the police, and we have even called the actual owners of the property in New Jersey. The facility is so unprofessional that after our SEVENTH COMPLAINT about the amount of noise, the leasing office contacted the tenants and informed them that we had complained several times. The next day, the male tenant saw my husband in the parking lot and informed him that if they were to be evicted because of us he would "kick his [my husbands] ---". We reported this to the leasing office and we were told that since there were "no witnesses" to the event, and there was no "physical contact", there was nothing they could do.

We have asked three times to have our dishwasher repaired (THE DISHWASHER IS NOT ATTACHED TO THE COUNTER - WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR, THE DISHWASHER FALLS OUT OF THE COUNTER AND LANDS ON THE OPEN DOOR.) We have requested on numerous occasions that the woman who lives next to us be spoke to about her parking (PARKING IS LIMITED IN FRONT OF THE BUILDINGS AS IS, OCCASIONALLY THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING SPACES AND TENANTS ARE FORCED TO PARK IN THE ROADS OF THE COMPLEX) - the tenant takes two spaces every time she parks - however, she also happens to be an employee in the leasing office so they let it go.

The tenants across the hall have a full sized husky as well as a rottweiler that jump on anyone that walks by them. They have been reported by several other tenants and nothing is done about it. Any complaints that are made to this complex fall on deaf ears. When the intercom system was installed 3 months ago, we were sent threatening "second notice" to turn in our phone number (we never received a first notice) two months ago and our number is still not programmed into the intercom. Finally, we were placed in a dog building even though we do not have a dog and both my husband and I are ALLERGIC to dogs. By the time we realized we were in a dog building, it was too late and we were already moved in.

All I can recommend is to find somewhere else to live. This is a horrible place to live. We can move out in a few months, and we already have a new place lined up. This place is terrible and needs to be shut down. PLEASE DON'T MOVE HERE, YOU DESERVE BETTER!
