I was in the property management business for over a year and honestly never really took these sites too seriously, but I will fully admit that I was wrong. When I looked up Aspen Woods and saw how people talked about them keeping their security deposit, I didn't really believe it. I was completely wrong. We lived in the apartment for 2 yrs, and when we moved out asked to be there for the move out inspection. When we arrived for it on Monday, we found out that they already had done a move out inspection and were charging us with stains on the carpet, holes in the screens, and a bent screen door. I couldn't believe it. I never saw any of those things in the apartment. The maintenance man ----- was suppose to call us after he shampooed the carpet to get the outcome, but nothing ever happened. We called the leasing office and the corporate office, and no one returned our call. We then get our security deposit back, and it's only $400! They charged us for changing the carpet. I wrote them a letter and the property manager asked to me with us. When we go to meet with us, she has no idea who we are or why we are there! She says ----- said he did a move out inspection and the pictures speak for themselves. THe shampoo carpet report said the carpet was beyond repair. The two pictures that she showed us showed us a blue dot and a few spots of red. That's it! And they charged us for changing the whole carpet! I told her we never had a move in inspection, and she then shows us this sheet that someone did before we moved in. I told her I didn't sign that and don't feel I should be charged for a old carpet! She then insults us by saying that she would be nice and throw business my fiancee's way b/c he is a landscaper. I couldn't believe it! I told her that was insulting and then she said she didn't understand how I could work in the leasing office b/c I was unfriendly! I was so angry. And then to top it off, she tried to offer me a job.

I would not recommend this apartment to anyone! The staff is extremely rude, they rip you off on your security deposit, and the plowing is ridiculous. My finacee was out plowing in the snow and when he came back when he was done, he couldn't even get into a parking spot b/c no one had plowed! We even had some neighbors not be able to go to work b/c they couldn't get their car out. Please, trust me, this is not someplace you want to rent. Take it from someone who was in the business and understands what tenants want, you don't want this place!

The office is so poorly managed. First of all, the leasing staff does not have access to the computer computer and any database connections - is at the corporate office in New Jersey. Everything they do is by hand in notebooks - very elementary. The office staff changes more than the wind, thus consistency is severely lacking. Furthermore, this adds to the 'he said she said' dilemma with the mamanger blaming previous staff. I know first hand - this place is a nightmare. The manager will smile at you and speak so nicely - but beware of the wolf in sheeps clothing - she is vile and mean - and yes, will steal your money. People need to be very aware of the decision they are making moving here - or conducting any form of business with this place. THe maintenance staff is so buried up her.....he is completely brown. It is a shame that she (who also owns part in the property) can get away with so much. She ruins people lives. She has accused former staff members of stealing, talks poorly about others- it is just dirty. I cannot believe that pwoplw like this can continue in business. I have but one word - KARMA.

There is a word called ethics which aspen woods management doesn't care or know about. All they want is to earn money and do no service. They charge money to have an option to give notice to vacate and that eligibility comes only after a year. And have 101 rules for giving that at month end etc. They will have a big time loss one way or the other and will realise then. Other apartments also do business but in a ethical way. Aspen doesn't do any kind of service and only wants to charge all the time even if you sneeze. There is so much problem in every house and no one cares. They just avoid everything and when it comes to payment, only one way communication is there. No response or valid answers.
