I too fell in love with the exposed brick and beam, high ceilings and large windows.
But after 2 years, I have grown to hate this pit.
WALLS ARE THIN!! Yes I can hear my neighbor cough, this is annoying. I hear her 11:30pm phone call every night as I'm trying to sleep. To make matters worse, she just babbles, like she hasn't talked in 20 years and needs to get everything out at once. I hate her.
My other neighbor just moved in and doesn't understand that you can hear everything through the walls and beats on the wall when ever I speak. I had to talk with him and inform him of the situation. It's all good now.
When I first moved in, the people below had wild parties, with lots of bass-y music, neglected their screaming 1.5 year old child and the father beat the mother on a nightly basis. Their gone now and it's been much better.
There's nothing behind the "security check", I watched a guy two doors down move in with 4 rifles and a gun case on wheels. My wife ran into a hooker coming into the building with her pimp last fall.
On Saturday and Sundays we are often visited by the local trash pickers going through the dumpsters outside our window. This is nice; often they spend the afternoon by the front door and attempt dialog to all who pass; Greece this is not.
The gym SUCKS. The equipment is often broken, it smells, it's moldy, no temperature control currently. My wife went to the gym a couple of weeks ago and found a huge pile of fresh puke on the floor. Nicely done!
While I have met some decent people, the majority are idiots with obnoxiously loud cars, and no respect for others. There are many, many "kids" in the building; 16-20 years olds that like to hang out in the parking late at night an make noise. I'm all for having a good time (I?m 29), but if their keeping me up after 1:00, I call the Manchester police. They'll swing by about 30 - 45 min later and break it up, but I shouldn't have to do that, it?s late in the summer. People have their windows open; these kids should realize that.
The laundry facility works more often than not, but people just leave there close in there like they own the place. I hate touching other people clothes, but sometimes you just have to move stuff around to get your chores done.
There is only one maintenance guy that's nice, the rest just look at you as if you?re a terrorist; what's that about. Management was just recently changed, so I don?t' know if they'll be better or not.
Try and get a UPS package here! The UPS guy and the front office are in a fight, so he stopped calling people to let them know they had a package; he'd just leave the slip on the window. I caught him once in the lobby and saw a slip for my wife and asked if he called. He said he didn't know how to use the internal phone system@!!!'#$
The front office stopped collecting packages for a while because someone lost a 12,000 dollar ring that was sent to them and they weren't there to get it, so it was left in the office and it got lost/stolen.
I agree with another review, there is a little ----- of a girl in the office that's a pain to deal with.
I am happy to report that I have not seen 1 bug or rodent. This has made me very happy. The windows do leak, but that?s to be expected of such an old building. My apt. has air/dishwasher which is nice and never had a problem with them.
We don?t like it here and that?s why we?re leaving.
