Suspect Injured In Jump From Window

MANCHESTER -- A man suspected of stealing a purse jumped from a fourth-floor apartment window Friday afternoon to avoid police.
The man, whose name was not released, was transported to Hartford Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police said they spoke to the man over the phone and then drove to the Velvet Mill apartments on Pine Street to question him regarding a purse snatched from a vehicle about 1:25 p.m. at the Mobil Gas Station on Hartford Road.
When police arrived, they found no one home.
As they were leaving, a resident of the building told police that a person had fallen past his window onto the courtyard.
