A big disappointment

I have lived here since 2003. It started out as a great deal for the price you paid but every year the rent went up and the quality went down.

I feel like everytime I turn around something goes wrong with this place. The washer and dryers always have something wrong with them. They break alot and you lose many quarters because of it. Or the other problem, someone is using up both of them and you can't do your laundry.

The next problem is that all the appliances and fixtures were nice, when this place was first built many, many years ago. They don't update anything while you are here unless it breaks. So, what you get when you move in, is yours for the whole time. You would think they should check on things once a year, but they don't. They wait for you to complain.

The walls are thin and the floors are not soundproof so you hear everything from your neighbors and your neighbors hear you. We had the luck of having an old lady downstairs who would bang our ceiling when we made noise. (Can you believe that')

The windows are old and drafty. It can be so cold near the windows!! Heating is pretty good though.

Our hot water was so tempermental and we had so many mornings with cold showers. It was awful!!

We lost power alot with the storms that we had over the years. More so than most places. It seems this place is just a target for lightning bolts. Nothing the complex owners could do but it is odd that everytime there was a storm, we lost power. One time it was for almost 2 days!

The parking is okay but the spaces are narrow and if someone parks crooked, you lose a spot.

They don't clean the snow well in the winter. They take at least a day before the sidewalks are clear and sometimes you have to wait for the snow to melt before its all cleared off the parking lot and sidewalks.

Landscaping is blah. Nothing special. Luckily some people get into the whole gardening thing and that can be nice.

They offer free grills outside but once the one near us broke, instead of fixing it, they removed it.

They aren't considerate when they do maintanence work. Granted, you can start working at 7 30 in this state, I think, but you would think in a big apartment complex, they would save the drilling and banging until at least 9 am.

This place isn't a steal anymore. They seem to be letting anyone move in and it's going downhill. It's starting to look like it belongs in East Hartford and not Manchester.

I will say these nice things about it: the maintanence people are nice, the office staff is awesome and the apartments are spacious. The place still feels safe but I can't see it staying that way for long.

I will be moving out in a few months and look forward to my new apartment. We had way too many problems living here, especially one huge problem that I won't disclose because it will single us out but it was disgusting and it made us realize that the people here really are gross and dirty... it's the reason we are moving out.

If you are trying to save money or just starting out, this is one of the few places that offers free heat and hot water and big apartments for less than $1,000.00. But don't be surprised if you are disappointed after a year when they jack the rent up another 30 bucks.
