Nice place, bad service

I was in the Yarn Mill for a year until I was relocated.
First the good parts: The apartments are spacious and relatively cheap while still being unique and somewhat stylish. There are plenty of large closets. The building is in a great location. There's almost immediate access to the highway and a short drive to the grocery store or mall all without a lot of local traffic or highway noise. Do yourself a favor and stop into the fire museum or Cheney hall and learn about the history of the mills.
On to the bad: Most of the other accusations people have made here are true (noise, poor maint. response, etc). Grace is miserly and cold hearted, she will only fix something if it affects her ability to rent the apartment once you leave. The best way to get something done is to explain to her how much money it will cost her. Most of her staff are working for reduced rent on their own apartment and have no incentive to help you out. If you have a real problem, go to Grace's secretary and ask nicely - she's more helpful & caring than the rest.
The bottom line is this is a nice place to live if you don't expect much service or individual attention.
