Lived there for 1 year.
No major maintenance problems. Whatever came up got fixed, no questions asked.
Management was competent and responsive.
The building looks great, I loved the 12foot exposed wooden-beam ceiling.
The price is a bit steep. But considering the hell-holes of rental places CT has to offer otherwise, it is a real stea (the only real upscale rental place I have found in CT so far).
Noise level was ok, definitely better than the other mills.
One BIG problem. They DO allow small dogs and cats. Now, it wouldn't be so much for the dogs, as for the 'dog people' that come along with them. If there was a way for management to 'sequester' the dog-owners in one sound- and stenchproof wing of the building, everybody else's life would be much better. (Some folks leave their dog locked in the apartment all day, of course they have nothing better to do that to howl.)
The machines in the fitness center are quite dated. The pool was nice, it is in the old steam-boiler building of the mill. (Although the changing/shower area needs some serious upgrade work.)
They seem to be quite picky with their tenants. Not the usual rental crowd, many corporate clients it seemed.
The surrounding area is a blue-collar neighbourhood, but so is the entire town. The major crime during my time there where a couple of neighbourhood kids illegaly trespassing into the pool area.... (Just don't leave your camerabag in the car. Just like any major rental complex, there is a bit of a car break-in problem in the mill area.)
Big plus is the 'strategic' location. If you have to go to Boston frequently, the location on I84 is hard to beat. Traffic permitting, you can hit the Copley square exit in 90 minutes. Also, you can get to New Haven and Springfield, MA in 45 minutes and Worchester, MA in less than an hour.
Beware of the HVAC system. Yes, heating is free, but the forced air heating system is woefully underpowered for the volume of the rooms. The blower is kind of noisy and the 'klunk' of the relay that switches it, knocks you out of bed. It takes a couple of hours of constant running to get the place comfy in the winter. The same applies to the AC part in the summer. Initially it didn't do a thing, management had the compressor recharged which improved the situation considerably.
Would I move back there: No, at least not without a HVAC retrofit.
Would I recommend it as a place to live for someone who needed to be in this geographic location: Yes (with warnings)
