Worth the money

I work as a consultant at the East Hartford Pratt and Whitney site, and my job eventually required that find a suitable place to live close to work. I looked for a month and a half in the East Hartford, Windsor, and Manchester area. I can tell you that one thing I have always found time and again in my apartment hunting is that you get what you pay for.

So I'll be blunt: It's darned expensive living here---the rent was a good twenty to twenty five percent higher when compared to some of the nearby apartments. But for me, Ribbon Mills offers the peace and quiet that I need after a twelve hour workday, and I can say that it is money well spent. The management gets five stars---Patty actually cares about your quality of life here, will hand deliver packages left in the office to your apartment, and is always on the lookout for the neighborhood.

One thing that prospective residents should be aware of is that the ceilings do not seem to have the same amount of insulation as the walls. You will hear your upstairs neighbors much more than those adjacent to you. So if they are heavy-footed, or doing a waltz (vertical or otherwise...), or have a gathering upstairs, you will know it.

Aside from that I can say that living here has been pretty much stress free. You pay rent, electricity, and cable/internet if you so choose. There is always room to park, although I live on the opposite side of the complex and have about a 1 min. walk to get to my car. The gym isn't big, but has everything you need to stay in shape if you put in the effort. Scott, who lives in the complex, is always helpful and looks out for the residents even when he is off duty. And the windows are gorgeous---that's high praise coming from a tech consultant.

Final word to all my prospective neighbors: apartment living is never perfect, but this place comes close.
