I do agree that Waterford Commons (without bed bugs) is a great place to live. But if you do consider moving there, make sure you don't move into Building 111, as it is infested with bed bugs, and has been since before July of 08. We didn't have a parking lot view, so having all the greenery in front of us was beautiful and we loved it. Management always took care of every issue that we had on a timely manner. When we realized we had bed bugs it was on July 14th 2008. Once we were infested with them, everything went down hill, including management taking proactive control over the situation. Its been over two months and the bed bug issue still has not been resolved. If we hadn't moved out, we'd still be living out of trash bags, washing our clothes and bedding everyday. Most importantly, we'd still be getting bit by bed bugs. The pictures included in this review are of my fianc and me with several bed bug bites and these are all just from one night, taken while we lived in the apartment with the bed bugs. In order for us to move out and not infest the new place that we moved to, we had to heat all of our belongings up (expert advice from an Entomologist I'd been working with). We confirmed that we had human bed bugs by an Entomologist at the CT Department of Agriculture Laboratory (I brought bed bug samples from my couch to them). I am not recommending this apartment complex because of our own experience and we wouldn't wish this sort of living condition on our worst enemy.

Building #52 is also infested with bed bugs (I just found this out on 09-29-08) If you live in either of these buildings, or any other building that is infested at Waterford Commons, please email me.

Bed bugs are not only at Waterford Commons. You can get them from anywhere - hotels, movie theater, friends house, etc. It doesn't matter if you keep your place clean or its a mess. You're naive if you think that Waterford is the only property that has them. They exist at lots of properties throughout CT and the country I'm sure. There is so much international travel that occurs, that people are bringing them with them from overseas, where they originate. Just so you know, if you go to a hotel and it smells sweet, like maple syrup, chances are there are bed bugs there.

Whoever wrote this needs to get a life. Your online, do a google search on bedbugs and see they are all over the place. What did Waterford Commons do to this person? There are Bedbugs in 5 star hotels throughout the US..its everywhere now. You have obviously moved out so move on with your life. Its such a great place to live and stop trying to make it out like its a terrible place. I have lived here for quite a awhile and when I asked what they were doing about the situation, they have gone above and beyond what most landlords in this state would do for residents. The management has to live with it daily from residents and Im sure thier not enjoying knowing that it has been a problem. So point being....move on and get on with your life it seems as you are obsessed with it at this point. Find an apartment community that doesn't have some kind of underlying issue! Its not going to happen. When people move in you never know what they may have or what they are doing behind closed doors.

Are these responses written by the property managers? Why would you give someone a hard time for providing useful information on an apartment rating site? I'm looking for an apartment myself and I damn well want to know whether there are vermin in the place. Judging by some other reviews, the management wasn't exactly forthcoming with that information to prospective renters. I salute this woman for doing the renting public a service by exposing the situation. FYI there was a report on NBC 30 about this, and the management's 'no comment' was not reassuring. The woman's issue was not that there were bedbugs; that's not really the management's fault, but the fact that they wanted to keep the story under wraps. What else are they not telling people?

By the way, bed bugs are now confirmed in 5 buildings at Waterford: 52, 71, 111, 115, and 147.
