We just recently moved into this apartment complex because it is about 10-20 minutes from were we both work. I read these reviews before I got here, and was very worried about what I was getting into. To be honest, it really isn t that bad for us. The neighborhood we are in is decent for Meriden, and the shopping complex is really convenient since gas prices are so high.
So far, we have been lucky with maintenance fixes. When we moved in on a Friday, we were unaware that our stove and AC were not working properly. We had to wait until Monday to talk to the manager about it, but they were both fixed by the end of the week. We got a brand new stove and a decent used AC.
As for the look of the apartment, they are very old. The kitchen counters are like a 60s-70s yellow and the cabinets are dark particle board that is chipping at the corners. They look alright at a distance, but they are in desperate need of replacement. However, the walls and carpet throughout our apartment were fresh with no stains and are a decent neutral tan coloring. The bathroom is also in need of some upgrading, having an old plastic sink and retro green linoleum.
I think our biggest complaint is how hot the temperature is in the upstairs of our 1 bedroom townhouse. When we moved in, we were told that we are unable to put in an AC on the top floor because of fire regulations, but there are many people with AC units in their windows like ours.
We also see many other violations of the lease like dogs and keeping the locked doors opened.
So far, since it is summer time, parking has not been an issue.
We were able to work with what we have though. We only pay $720 a month, and we expected there to be some flaws. We plan on staying here at least until our 6 month lease is up, then we will see what happens.

I am a previous resident of Meetinghouse Village Apts. I share the same thoughts and feelings. As far as the dogs are concerned, keep in mind that the tenants are not in any violation of their leases it's just that long-time residents were allowed to have dogs before any rules have changed. You can't tell a tenant who's been there for 10-20 years that they cannot have a dog and stick them with new regulations. They would have to literally move out and become totally new tenants, then the rules would certainly apply.
